Situated upon Vylbrand, Castrum Occidens is more akin to a research facility than a fortress. Even before its pillar was driven into the ground, Legatus Gaius van Baelsar had ordered his people to probe the fragment of Dalamud which fell at that precise location. The impact resulted in the creation of vast caverns pervaded by corrupted crystals. Though unknown dangers lie in wait within, you must brave them all if you are to learn the truth of the Calamity.

Enemies
Bosses
ADS, Allagan Defense System, is the mini-boss of Turn 1. Players have four minutes to kill this boss before it explodes, wiping the party.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| High Voltage | An interruptable spell that, if successful, inflicts all players with Paralysis for 10 seconds. Debuffs can be cleansed with Esuna.
|
| Repelling Cannons | A simple circle AoE centered on ADS. |
| Piercing Laser | A simple line AoE aimed at a random player. |
| Attack/Defense/Patrol Node | A random one of three nodes will spawn at the south entrance of the room every 40 seconds.
If brought too close to ADS, they tether and are absorbed after 25 seconds— healing ADS and granting a stack of Damage Up.
|
As High Voltage is cast more frequently than it takes for Interject to recast, two players will have to coordinate interrupting.
The off-tank will have to handle keeping the Nodes away from ADS.
As this boss does not have much health, DPS can ignore the Nodes and simply focus on ADS the entire time.
A giant snake that constantly grows stronger over time. Unless handled carefully, Caduceus will quickly overwhelm the party with hard-hitting attacks.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Hood Swing | A cleave attack. |
| Whip Back | A simple cone AoE from the rear of the boss. Only cast if a player is behind Caduceus. |
| Regorge | A puddle placed under a random player that inflicts Pollen when stood inside, dealing damage over time. |
| Steel Scales | Caduceus gains a stack of Damage Up. Cast 30 seconds into the fight and every 45 seconds after.
|
| Dark Matter Slime | A slime enemy created under each player standing on a glowing platform. Will only chase and attack the player that created it, ignoring enmity.
|
| Split | Cast at 68% HP. Caduceus will split into two, halving their health. If not kept apart, they will merge back together and Enrage.
|
Players will need to spread out, both to avoid Regorge and so that players can spawn Dark Matter Slimes from whatever platforms begin to glow.
Two ranged players should be assigned to handle Dark Matter Slimes, bringing the slimes down to ~20% health before pulling them into range of Caduceus. These slimes do not have much health, so only the assigned DPS should attack them.
One ranged player should stand on the highest platform on the north end of the room, as this platform is extremely difficult to reach in time if it begins to glow.
Non-ranged players should avoid standing on glowing platforms, as if a Dark Matter Slime is spawned directly on top of Caduceus, it may devour the slime instantly and heal a large amount of health.
Once Caduceus splits, the off-tank should provoke the copy and bring them to the opposite side of the room. DPS should focus on keeping both copies of Caduceus at equal health and attempt to kill them simultaneously.
When one Caduceus dies, the other will rapidly begin accumulating Damage Up stacks. If one copy is killed too soon, the other will likely wipe the group.

Dialogue
Cutscene
Alisaie: The scars left by the Calamity... Alisaie: I can scarce breathe for the surfeit of aether. Alisaie: Tell me, have you ever seen corrupted crystals such as these? Alisaie: Such crystals manifested across the realm when the course of the great river of aether was irrevocably altered five years ago. Alisaie: Behold, one of the objects that caused that alteration: a fragment of the lesser moon, Dalamud. Alisaie: Ancient Allag created Dalamud—or Meteor, to use the Garlean name—to serve as a celestial prison for Bahamut. Alisaie: Its fall inflicted grievous wounds upon the land—wounds that have yet to heal, as is evident from the corrupted crystals. Alisaie: Amazing... Dalamud's internal defenses still function in spite of everything—a testament to the ingenuity of the Allagans. Alisaie: The Garleans seek to appropriate their advanced technology, I am certain of it. Alisaie: We are about to come face-to-face with secrets that have long lain buried within the sands of time. Alisaie: Great dangers may lie beyond, but we have come too far to turn back. The truth of the Calamity is within reach.
Cutscene 2
Alisaie: <gasp> Gods preserve... Alisaie: Dark wings that would engulf the very heavens... Alisaie: These could only belong to Bahamut, the primal who laid Eorzea to waste five years ago. Alisaie: At Carteneau, my grandfather sought to imprison Bahamut anew by invoking the power of the Twelve. Alisaie: Alas, the dreadwyrm proved too powerful, and he soon broke free of his confines. Alisaie: Yet instead of resuming the destruction he had begun, Bahamut vanished. Whither to, no one knew...until this day. Alisaie: But I do not understand... If Bahamut is truly a primal, how is it that he retains his physical form? Alisaie: Did Grandfather defeat him? Or is there some other explanation? Alisaie: We must press on if we are to learn the truth.
