Introduction
Evercold (considered version 8.0 of the game) is the sixth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, after Dawntrail. It will be released on January 2027.
Story
Features
- New jobs: ??? (Tank) and ??? (Physical Ranged DPS)
- First job will be revealed in the European Fan Festival
- Level cap increase to 110
Job Action System
- New job action system: Reborn Mode and Evolved Mode for all pre-Evercold jobs, with unique actions in each mode
- Reborn Mode: Similar to how jobs play in Dawntrail; will continue to receive updates
- Evolved Mode: A new system that emphasizes job individuality
- Different job rotations
- Fewer button inputs
- Players may freely toggle between the two modes outside of battle.
- Job levels and gear are shared per mode.
- Evolved Mode available on unlock of the job.
- All content can be cleared with either mode, although Evolved Mode is advertised to be slightly stronger.
- All jobs released from Evercold onwards will only have Evolved Mode.

New Features
- Adventurer Activity, a weekly activity system tied to character progression.
- Designed to provide flexibility to players by substituting the daily-based system with a week-based system.
- Offers new ways to increase item level
- Replaces the 450 weekly capped Allagan Tomestones.
- Earn weekly activity points by completing various missions, which include duties, quests, FATEs, PvPs, obtainining collectables, and more.
- It is not a battle pass.
- Potential weekly rollover if there are unearned points from last week's cap.

- Each season is two major patches long, beginning with an even-numbered patch.
