Shirk
Shirk
“Diverts 25% of enmity to target party member.
— In-game description
Shirk is an action unlocked at level 48. It is available for Tank.
Additional Information
In duties with two tanks, tankbusters and other mechanics can require swapping which tank is currently holding enmity on the boss. To do this, the current off-tank will use Provoke followed by the former main tank using Shirk on the provoking player. This ensures the new tank has a strong enmity lead on the boss. A good way to do this is using a Shirk macro.
In 24-player content like Alliance Raids, Shirk will not work on the other tanks as they are in different parties. In such cases where there is also a single target for the entire alliance (like a boss), the three tanks should stand as close as possible to each other so the boss will not move drastically if enmity changes. While it may be tempting to drop tank stance to avoid such a scenario, this creates an unnecessary risk of enmity passing to a non-tank if the main tank dies.
Shirking a non-tank party member in order to deliberately get them KO'ed will result in a penalty under the Prohibited Activities in Final Fantasy XIV section "Obstructing Gameplay Using Combat"
