Phantom Weapons
Phantom Weapons are the level 100 Relic Weapons for Dawntrail. The first installment of these was released in patch 7.25, and successive upgrades were released until patch 7.55.
Similar to Eureka Weapons and Resistance Weapons, these are tied to a Field Operations series: Occult Crescent. Players have the option of participating in Occult Crescent content (for some steps) or existing activities outside the field instances to upgrade these weapons.
This relic weapon series consists of one-time, time-consuming grind steps that are reminiscent of Zodiac Weapons or Anima Weapons upgrade steps, in addition to straightforward tomestone purchases for repeatable steps that characterize the Manderville Weapons.
Phantom Weapons do not provide specific bonuses within the Occult Crescent, but final-stage weapons have three substats, making them stronger than other level 100 weapons when the IL 700 sync in those zones is factored in.

Phantom Weapons Penumbrae (IL 745)
One-time segment
To unlock the quest chain, players need to be level 100 with a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic and complete the Main Scenario Quest Dawntrail, as well as the Occult Crescent questline up to Unfamiliar Territory. Players can then obtain the first relic by speaking to the Lydirceil in Phantom Village and completing the one-time Arcane Artistry then Forging the Phantasmal.
For subsequent relics, players can purchase the weapon from Dodokkuli in Phantom Village (X:6.7, Y:7.1).
For the first one-time quest, the player needs to acquire 3 each of six types of demiatma. These are random drops from FATEs and Critical Encounters in The Occult Crescent: South Horn. Alternatively, they can be obtained as random drops from FATEs in Dawntrail zones: Urqopacha, Kozama'uka, Yak T'el, Shaaloani, Heritage Found, and Living Memory. Each zone has its own demiatma type. Critical Engagements have a 20% demiatma drop rate and FATEs (both inside and outside of Occult Crescent) have a 5% drop rate.[1] Thus, on average, players can expect to obtain 1 demiatma per 5 CEs or per 20 FATEs completed. The actual number of FATEs/CEs required per player will likely vary due to the nature of independent probabilities. There are currently no plans to change the drop rates, but this is subject to change in the future.
If opting to farm FATEs, make sure to keep 
600 Bicolor Gemstones on hand, as they will be needed for the Umbrae upgrade step.

For the follow-up quest and subsequent relics, players must exchange a total of 1500 
Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics with Ermina in the Phantom Village (X:6.9, Y:7.3) to purchase 3 Arcanite, then exchange them with Dodokkuli. This tomestone exchange step must be done for each desired weapon.

Replica Phantom Weapons Penumbrae (glamour only; does not provide stats) can be claimed for free at the Expedition Metallurgist in the Phantom Village (X:6.9, Y:7.1) after completing Wrought by Hands Phantasmal (see below section) and obtaining the corresponding Phantom Weapon Penumbrae.
Phantom Weapons Umbrae (IL 760)
One-time segment
To upgrade their weapons, players need to be level 100 with a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic and have obtained a Phantom Weapon Penumbrae. Players can then begin the relic upgrading process by speaking to Lydirceil in Phantom Village and completing the one-time Keeping the Old Ways Alive, then Aether, Aether, Everywhere, and finally Wrought by Hands Phantasmal. Aside from the final tomestone step, players must participate in activities outside of Occult Crescent to progress.
For the first quest, Keeping the Old Ways Alive, players need to obtain five different items:
- Rroneek Glue: Purchased from Goplu in Tuliyollal (X:13.1, Y:12.7) for
300,000. - Ut'ohmu Siderite: Purchased from Rral Wuruq in Yak T'el (X:13.8, Y:12.7) for 600 or from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). If buying from the gemstone vendor, note that there is no Shared FATE progress required; the item is available from the start.
- Synthetic Dark Matter Alpha: Crafted by
blacksmith, 
armorer, or 
goldsmith (level 100★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). Item cannot be made high quality, however the required quality to successfully craft it is 99.8% of maximum possible quality. - Synthetic Dark Matter Beta: Crafted by

For the second quest, Aether, Aether, Everywhere, players need to fill up an Aetherwell Array through a process that is very similar to "light farming" in other relic weapon series. The array has four different pools of colored aether: green, blue, red, and yellow. Players must collect 10,000 units in each category to fill the array. Aether is obtained by completing Duty Roulettes, specifically:
Green: High-level Dungeons (note: this is not Level Cap Dungeons or Expert Roulette)
Blue: Alliance Raids
Red: Trials
Yellow: Normal Raids
Each completed roulette will normally grant around a few hundred units of aether, with a bonus once per day. Each duty grants a fixed amount of aether, which appears to have been determined based on the average clear time of the duty: longer duties will typically grant more aether.
You can collect aether without needing to equip the relic, queue as a level 100 job, or use the same job that accepted the quest.
The daily bonus varies by roulette type and follows the opposite trend:
- Alliance raids: +101
- Dungeons: +376
- Trials and normal raids: +614
A list of the aether granted by each duty can be found here. By definition, due to the random nature of roulettes, players cannot target specific duties that are perceived to be more efficient to farm. Although it is not possible to use an Unrestricted Party in roulettes, a preformed party of 1 tank, 1 healer, and 6 DPS can be used to make the Trials and Normal Raids roulettes faster to complete.
If you do just one of each roulette per day (with the daily bonus), all four aetherwells will be filled in approximately 13-14 days.
- The level 50 Crystal Tower alliance raids may be over-represented, slowing down the blue aetherwell as a result. In worst-case, the blue aetherwell can take up to 22 days to fill.
Warning: If you abandon this quest at any point, you will need to restart the aether farming from the beginning.

Phantom Weapons Obscurum (IL 775)
One-time segment
To upgrade their weapons a second time, players need to be level 100 with a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic and have obtained a Phantom Weapon Umbrae. Players can then continue the relic upgrading process by speaking to Lydirceil in Phantom Village and completing the one-time Timeworn Techniques, then In Pursuit of Perfection, and finally A Phantom Reborn.
For the first quest, Timeworn Techniques, players need to obtain four different items:
- Umbral Clay: Purchased from Goplu in Tuliyollal (X:13.1, Y:12.7) for 500,000.
- Aspected Aetheroconductor: Crafted by blacksmith, armorer, or goldsmith (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). A high quality version of the item does not exist; however, players must essentially fill the quality bar (at least 14200/14204 quality) to successfully craft the item at all.
- Aspected Aether Agglomerate: Crafted by carpenter, leatherworker, or weaver (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). The quality requirements to complete the craft are the same as the Aspected Aetheroconductor above.
- Aspected Aetherocatalyst: Crafted by alchemist or culinarian (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). The quality requirements to complete the craft are the same as the Aspected Aetheroconductor above.
For the second quest, In Pursuit of Perfection, players need to fill up a Phantom Glass through another light/aether-esque grind. There are notable differences compared to the aetherwell array step:
- Players need to collect one type of item ( Crystal Paste). This item is stored in the player's inventory and is stackable.
- Gerolt needs a total of 1200 Crystal Paste over four turn-ins (100 - 200 - 300 - 600) but players do not need to turn them in until getting 1200, so there is no danger of overcapping.
- Instead of duty roulettes only, crystal paste can be obtained from certain level 91-100 duties in addition to some duty roulettes, each rewarding a different amount of paste. See here for specific amounts.

- There is no daily bonus for completing certain duties.
You can collect crystal paste without needing to equip the relic, queue as a level 100 job, or use the same job that accepted the quest.

The IL 1 glamour weapons Replica Phantom Weapons Obscurum and Matte Replica Phantom Weapons Obscurum (no graphical effect when unsheathed) can be claimed for free at the Expedition Metallurgist in the Phantom Village (X:6.9, Y:7.1) after obtaining the corresponding Phantom Weapon Obscurum.
Phantom Weapons Eclipticum (IL 790)
One-time segment
To upgrade their weapons a third time, players need to be level 100 with a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic and have obtained a Phantom Weapon Obscurum. Players can then continue the relic upgrading process by speaking to Lydirceil in Phantom Village and completing the one-time Under No Illusion, then Phantoms to Fillet, and finally A Phantom Unveiled.
For the first quest, Under No Illusion, players need to obtain four different items:
- Monarch Whetstone: Purchased from Goplu in Tuliyollal (X:13.1, Y:12.7) for 500,000.
- Ancestral Alloy Ingot: Crafted by blacksmith, armorer, or goldsmith (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). A high quality version of the item does not exist; however, players must essentially fill the quality bar (at least 14200/14204 quality) to successfully craft the item at all.
- Ascendant Twine: Crafted by carpenter, leatherworker, or weaver (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). The quality requirements to complete the craft are the same as the Aspected Aetheroconductor above.
- Majestic Polish: Crafted by alchemist or culinarian (level 100★★★★, requires Master Recipes XII) or purchased from the Market Board (Universalis price tracker). The quality requirements to complete the craft are the same as the Aspected Aetheroconductor above.
For the second quest, Phantoms to Fillet, players need to obtain 100 each of three types of Phantom dispeller items. These can obtained either from:
- FATEs and critical encounters on The Occult Crescent: North Horn, excluding The Forked Tower: Magic and The Forked Tower: Magic (Extreme)
- Completed FATEs yield 3 phantom dispellers of any one type
- Completed CEs yield 10 phantom dispellers of any one type
- Each FATE and CE drops a different phantom dispeller:

Phantom Weapons Occultum (IL 795)
One-time segment
To upgrade their weapons a fourth and final time, players need to be level 100 with a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic and have obtained a Phantom Weapon Eclipticum. Players can then finish the relic upgrading process by speaking to Lydirceil in Phantom Village and completing the one-time Final Phantasm.
To complete this quest, players will need to fill a Knowledge Crystal with "martial memories", similar to the "book" steps for the Zodiac Weapons. The crystal has eight categories, each with different objectives, and players will need to complete each objective.
- Yok Tural Field Operations: Defeat certain enemies and complete 5 FATEs with a gold rank in each of Urqopacha, Kozama'uka, and Yak T'el.
- Xak Tural Field Operations: Defeat certain enemies and complete 5 FATEs with a gold rank in each of Shaaloani and Heritage Found.
- Unlost World Field Operations: Defeat certain enemies and complete 5 FATEs with a gold rank in Living Memory.
- Leveling Dungeons: Clear each of the five Dawntrail (level 91-99) leveling dungeons once.
- Expert Dungeons: Clear each of the eight level 100 dungeons once.
- Trials: Clear each of the seven Dawntrail normal-difficulty trials once (excluding The Windward Wilds).
- Alliance Raids: Clear each of the three Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raids once.
- The Arcadion: Clear each of the 12 Arcadion normal-difficulty raids once.

After completing all objectives, players will be able to choose attributes (see Attributes section below) receive their fully upgraded IL 795 Phantom Weapon. There is a straightforward bonus quest, All Too Fleeting, that rewards Phantom Philleter, a glamour tool for culinarian.
These weapons have the same model as Phantom Weapons Eclipticum but have a graphical effect when unsheathed.

Repeatable segment
Subsequent relics can be obtained simply by exchanging the corresponding Phantom Weapon Eclipticum with Dodokkuli and selecting attributes. There is no tomestone exchange step involved.

Attributes
This iteration of the Phantom Weapons also allows players to allocate the weapon's attributes. Players may select two attributes to be maximized (at a value of 447), and a third attribute to be set to a lower value (108). The attributes to select from are Critical Hit, Determination, and two attribute that depends on the player's job (Direct Hit Rate, Spell Speed, Skill Speed, Tenacity, or Piety).
Once chosen, the attributes can be changed by speaking to Brigid in Phantom Village (X:6.4, Y:7.0) and spending an Ecliptic Arcanite.
This adjustability, combined with an overall slightly higher total number of attribute points, makes the Phantom Weapons Occultum slightly stronger than the Grand Champion's Weapons and Palazzo Diamond Weapons of equal item level, making them the strongest level 100 weapons.
The IL 1 glamour weapons Replica Phantom Weapons Eclipticum and Replica Phantom Weapons Occultum can be claimed for free at the Expedition Metallurgist in the Phantom Village (X:6.9, Y:7.1) after obtaining the corresponding Phantom Weapon Occultum.
