Upgrading Zodiac Braves to Zodiac Zeta

Quests: Rise and Shine Rise and Shine & The Vital Title The Vital Title

The upgrade is comprised of 12 Mahatmas of the original Atmas. To upgrade your weapon, you must awaken the Soul of your weapon through a method similar to Novus light farming. You need 40 points to awaken each Mahatma. Like the light farming, you can obtain points from ARR dungeons, trials, FATEs, Treasure Hunt, Alexandrite Maps, and PvP. Progress can be viewed from the Zodiac Glass Zodiac Glass. You will also be notified when ascension is complete in the chat log.

  1. Talk to Remon in Swiftperch in Western La Noscea to complete Rise and Shine Rise and Shine. Once the quest is complete, you can now have Remon attach Mahatma to your weapon.
  2. Immediately talk to Remon in Western La Noscea again to attach the first available Mahatma for Allagan Tomestone of Poetics 50 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics.
  3. Complete each of the 12 Mahatmas individually by running dungeons, raids, or fates until your "Mahatma fully awakens a sense of assertion within your Zodiac Weapon".
  4. After each Mahatma awakens, speak with Remon to attach the next available Mahatma. Repeat the process for all 12 Mahatmas.
  5. Speak with Jalzahn at the North Shroud (ensure that the Zodiac Weapon you wish to awaken is placed in your Armoury Chest or inventory before speaking with Jalzahn.) and select "Zodiac Weapon Awakening".

Notes

  • Mahatma's bonus window is the same as Novus bonus window (by using the Zodiac Glass Zodiac Glass, it is possible to verify your progress with each variety of mahatma).
  • You must have the relic weapon equipped on the last boss of the duty in order to get Mahatma progress credit. For PvP, you must have the relic equipped when a winner is decided.
    • For The Borderland Ruins (Secure) The Borderland Ruins (Secure), since this duty allows switching jobs, it is possible to queue as one job (which will receive the exp), play the actual match on a second job, and then equip your relic for a third job right before the match's winner is decided.

Unrestricted (unsynced) runs of the following duties are recommended to awaken mahatmas quickly:

  • (For level 60+ jobs) The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (1-2 runs per mahatma, 12-24 runs total) - Simplified dungeon layout as of the patch 6.1 rework.
  • (For level 70+ jobs) The Tam-Tara Deepcroft The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (1-2 runs per mahatma, 12-24 runs total, 4 minutes each run) - Small layout. Remember that you can keep your normal weapon equipped until the last boss for quicker kills.
  • (For level 80+ jobs) The Bowl of Embers (Extreme) The Bowl of Embers (Extreme) (2-3 runs per mahatma, 24-36 runs total, 10 sec each run) - Requires strong frontloaded burst damage (e.g. Ninja) to skip the invulnerability phase. To do this consistently, try to have the finishing attack take out 20-30% of Ifrit's HP in one hit.
  • (For level 80+ jobs) Thornmarch (Extreme) Thornmarch (Extreme) (2-3 runs per mahatma, 24-36 runs total, 10-40 sec each run) - Less reliant on upfront burst, but more reliant on AoE burst. Try to damage the king to below 41.9% before he summons adds, then one-shot all of the adds so the king spends his HP to rez all of them at once. This should be enough to KO. If the 41.9% threshold isn't hit, just AoE down the adds and make him rez them a second time, which should be enough.
  • (For level 80+ jobs) The Aurum Vale The Aurum Vale (1-2 runs per mahatma, 12-24 runs total, 2-3 minutes each run) - Smaller layout than Toto-Rak. Recommended once you can one-shot the bosses. Just run through and kill the bosses + big Morbols to break the walls; the small enemies can be ignored.
  • (For level 100+ jobs) The Final Coil of Bahamut - Turn 4 The Final Coil of Bahamut - Turn 4 (2-3 runs per mahatma, 24-36 runs total, 20-30 sec each run) - Must kill before the long add phase starts. Slower than Ifrit with invuln-skip, but it's (barely) possible for low-burst jobs like Scholar to achieve ~30-second solo kills by keeping Bahamut's health above 80% until he starts casting Megaflare, and then bursting. This does require a fairly high item level, but should become more consistent throughout the Dawntrail patch cycle as higher item level gear becomes available.

If working on the Resistance Weapons quest Change of Arms Change of Arms, running Crystal Tower alliance raids can collect items for that quest, as well as a lot of progress towards awakening your current mahatma (half-awaken from The Labyrinth of the Ancients The Labyrinth of the Ancients, full-awaken from Syrcus Tower Syrcus Tower or The World of Darkness The World of Darkness).

After finishing a Mahatma, you can get the next one from Remon in Swiftperch for Allagan Tomestone of Poetics 50 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. You need to complete all 12, in order, to upgrade your weapon. They are ordered as follows:

[1] Soloing 1x some dungeons is enough to fully awaken a Mahatma if you are in a 2-hour bonus window for it. For high level jobs running The Aurum Vale will be quicker than Sastasha.
[2] Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium give Steady as of the 6.1 changes to them, while Porta Decumana gives Faint.
[3] Syrcus Tower/World of Darkness fully awaken a Mahatma whether they have a bonus or not.
