Trial by Claw is a Critical Encounter spawned in The Occult Crescent: South Horn.

Note that the arena consists of a small circle in the middle with three concentric rings, which are relevant for one mechanic.
- Primal Roar: Party-wide magical damage.
- Fearsome Facet: Spawns two untargetable Draconic Double adds opposite each other along with two blue crystals that are offset from the adds but also opposite each other. The adds will begin channeling lightning and cast Prismatic Wing, a massive point-blank AoE with no ground telegraph. Move to the wall halfway between the adds to dodge. Afterwards, the crystals will repeat the massive point-blank AoEs.
- Fearsome Facet (version 2): Similar to before, but the adds will channel wind instead with Prismatic Wing, denoting massive donut AoEs with no ground telegraph. Move on top of any dragon add to dodge, the move to the closest crystal for the repeat AoEs.
- Fearsome Facet (version 3): Spawns two adds at the wall opposite each other along with two crystal near the middle of the arena. The adds will channel either lightning or wind, which can be dodged as before. During this, the boss will cast Crystal Mirror and yellow and blue sigils will appear on the floor. The crystals will be on top of sigils of the same color. When the cast finishes, the crystals will be teleported to the other sigils of the same color, then resolve the follow-up elemental AoE based on the adds' attack.
- Crystal Call: The boss will recenter itself and spawn four purple crystals on top of the arena rings.
- Crystallized Chaos: The boss will tether two crystals and mark them with a single crystal icon (I), then the other two with a double crystal icon (II). When the cast finishes, the I crystals will use an untelegraphed ring-shaped AoE covering the ring of the arena they were located. Afterwards, the II crystals will do the same. For each set, a different ring of the arena will be safe. The middle circle will always be unsafe because the boss will use a concurrent late telegraphed point-blank AoE on that region.
- Crystal Call + Crystallized Chaos (version 2): Now spawns a total of six purple crystals, two per ring in different locations. The boss will mark the crystals I-III and use the same attack as before. A different ring of the arena will be safe for each set, but all three rings will be safe one time.
- Fearsome Facet (version 3) will be used again but immediately followed by Crystal Call / Crystallized Chaos (version 2) with no breather.
