The nation of Sharlayan is the cradle of knowledge, and the Studium its foremost institution of learning. Dubbed somanoutics, the art seeks to heal and protect by manipulating corporeal aether through the use of nouliths, a flying array of foci. Sage (SGE) is a Disciple of Magic job introduced in Endwalker (6.0) expansion and unlockable at level 70. It is a  Healer job and does not have a base class. Sages use aether to manipulate nouliths in combat, and are able to temporarily augment their own magic abilities. It is considered a "barrier" healer, along with Scholar, specializing in reducing incoming damage using shields and mitigation abilities.

Unlock

Sage is a Barrier Healer job introduced in Endwalker. It has a few requirements in order to be unlocked:

• Prerequisite: The player must have purchased the Endwalker expansion and be level 70 or higher Disciple of War or Magic
• Quest: Speak to Sharlayan Maiden in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (x9.4,y12.9) to obtain the quest Sage's Path.

Addersgall Gauge

Upon learning the trait   Addersgall, you will be able to view the Addersgall Gauge, which displays the amount of Addersgall that has been applied.

Addersgall increases over time. You can use the amount accumulated to execute several actions such as   Druochole and   Kerachole (acquired at level 50).

When you learn the trait   Addersting, it will become visible on the Addersgall Gauge.

Addersting is accumulated when a magicked barrier granted to any party member from   Eukrasian Diagnosis, or a magicked barrier granted to self from   Eukrasian Prognosis or   Eukrasian Prognosis II, disappears after nullifying damage.

You can use the amount accumulated to execute several actions such as   Toxikon and   Toxikon II (acquired at level 82).

Based on healing prowess and affinity for flowing white habiliments alone, one might be hard-pressed to find any difference between the sage and white mage. However, where the white mages of Amdapor wore their whites as a symbol of purity, sages don theirs in the name of maintaining physical cleanliness.

In the midst of battle, of course, a clean healer is an indolent one, and herein lay a vexing conundrum—the stark contrast of bright red blood upon a pure white uniform was contributing to retinal fatigue, and the resulting greenish afterimages were impediments to executing the delicate geometries expected of any somanoutic practitioner. Blue was therefore introduced into the uniform, and proof of its efficacy can be found in the coloring of the raiments modern sages favor today.

Trivia

The Sage icon was changed during development because the first version was triggering trypophobic reactions (the aversion or feeling of disgust or fear in response to clusters of small holes or bumps) in some players.
