By participating in Sprig Cleaning, you will use special actions to help clear away pests that are impeding Hatching-tide festivities.

Sprig Cleaning is a level 1 solo duty introduced in patch 7.45 with Dawntrail. There are no class or job requirements for participation, but this instance is available for a limited time only during Hatching-tide (2026).

Overview

Players are tasked with removing weeds using special actions on their hotbar, aiming for the highest score possible. Each room has a formation of leafkin in one of several arrangements. Upon clearing all leafkin in a room, the exit to the next room will become available. This loop repeats until the 3 minute duty timer runs out.

Special Actions

The following actions are available in this duty to destroy weeds:

A large circular area of effect attack that can only be executed upon attaining sufficient cleaning spirit, displayed in an instance-specific gauge. Cleaning spirit is accumulated by defeating leafkin.

Players will receive the In the Weeds buff to make the scythe actions available within this duty. (Description: Ready to slay leafkin with a bespoke garden scythe.)

Scores

Score is increased by the following:

• Trimming Troublesome Traps: Players will earn points for each leafkin they defeat. Each Leafkin Sprig is worth 1 point.
• Reclaiming Archon Eggs: Archon Eggs are items that are sometimes earned from defeating leafkin. Each type of egg is worth a different amount of points.

  • Silver: 50 points
  • Bronze: 30 points

Unusual Leafkin

Players may encounter Transcendental Traps during this duty. Defeating these will randomly apply one of the following benefits:

• A significant increase to your cleaning gauge
• Enhanced Egg Acuity: Improves your change of discovering Archon eggs.
• Golden Eye: Ensures all Archon eggs discovered are gold.
• Eggstreme Egg Acuity: Probability of gleaning Archon eggs is increased, and all eggs gleaned will be gold.

Tips

• Sprint and other job actions are disabled in this duty.
• Use Pruning Pirouette to destroy leafkin in a small (3x3) box formation. This action snapshots on use, so you do not need to wait for the animation to finish and can keep moving.
• Use Roaring Eggscapade to destroy leafkin in a line formation and as a movement tool.
• When available, use The Spriganator in the center of the room to destroy most, if not all leafkin in the room.
• If aiming for a high score, ensure that leafkin in a group are not missed, as having to defeat stray enemies will cost a lot of time due to the duty-specific actions being on the global cooldown (GCD).
• Score is highly dependent on the player's luck with buffs and favorable leafkin formations.

Rewards

Players will receive Special Brilliant Eggs based on their score. The number of eggs received equals their score divided by 100, rounded up.

These eggs can be exchanged for gear and items by speaking with the Dreamer in Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre, Old Gridania (X:10.3, Y:9.1). It costs a total of 260 eggs to buy one of each reward (minus the magicked prism).

Dialogue

During Of Weeds and Whimsy, the player will complete a tutorial version of this duty consisting of only 4 rooms. The actual version of the duty does not have the NPCs, but the system messages are identical.
