Talk to Clerk PX-0061 in Living Memory (21.6, 35.9) to return to this area through the Alexandria Crater. After the patch 7.4 MSQ, the Clerk PX-0093 (21.6, 35.9) will instead transport players directly to Treno, bypassing the crater.

Lore

One of the surviving cities on the Mist Continent, Treno is the original homeland of the Milalla who came from the South Sea Isles and introduced Arcanima to the Ninth Reflection.[1]

Government

Treno is administrated by mayoral leadership that is passed down by lineage rather than elected.[1] The mayor of Treno is titled Speaker.[2]

Even as they do their utmost to ensure the people's welfare in their adopted home, since the Storm Surge, it was the Speaker's duty to find a means to return whence the Milalla came. Over time though they abandoned this objective in favor of maintaining Treno as their true home.[2]

Leader

The current mayor of Treno is Speaker Miayli.[1] The heir to Treno as the next Speaker is Krile, though it is unclear if she will take the position in the future.[2]

Racial Distribution

The population of Treno is primarily made up of Milalla

In the past Treno was also populated by Hyune and Eldites who left after the Storm Surge to live in Alexandria.

Industries

Trade

As a city-state built on a harbor, it was a nexus of trade. Nations such as Alexandria always felt fortunate to have it in nearby proximity.[1]

Currently, due to the violent lightning storm that spans as far as the eye can see, airships cannot make the journey to Treno safely.[1] Despite this, Treno operates a rail system facilitating the flow of goods between the nation and surviving settlements that still survive on the Mist Continent.[3] It includes a freight depot that facilities loading and unloading of trains entering and exiting Treno. One such freight depot is known as Bentini Depot.[4]

There are also maritime routes, but they see only occasional use.[3]

Farming

Seeds carried in by invading creatures can be cultivated into remarkable plants. Plants with the potential to mitigate the lightning's effects. They harvest these from the hides and stomachs of the creatures. They occasionally find new varieties of herbs among each harvest.[3]

Technology

The people of Treno are well versed in Electrope technology, using similar arcanima to that of Alexandria, able to erect large barriers to defend the city from both levin and assaults by creatures or remnants of the war.[3]

Treno has also developed tracking devices to detect hostile threats in nearby proximity, using this technology in order to identify, defeat, and mop up the many creatures that assail the city.[5]

In order to protect the railway connected to Treno, they also have a Railway Monitoring System that alerts them of potential threats such as the Doom Train.[4]

Treno includes it's own electrope vehicles such as hover cargo's.

Mining

Treno utilizes a nearby mine in order to obtain more electrope as well as transport materials safely from threats, though the pathway back forth as well as the mine itself must be regularly guarded by the militia of Treno.[5]

Livestock

Treno has a small animal husbandry clearing which is used to raise a population of Dodo's.[6]

Beliefs

The people of Treno are undaunted by the hardships they face. They are not only surviving, they are happy, in spite of it all.

They believe that where there is life, there is hope. Where when one believes in a better future, a tomorrow even the slightest bit brighter than today, there is naught to be done but build it. Until, stone by stone, a city rises.[3]

The Speakers words

Upon the arrival of the Milalla to Treno, the speaker said:

O life, flourish on this faraway shore,

Unfurl your fragile petals with fearless joy.

Let this sky grant shelter from darkest storm,

And here bloom, hand in hand, forevermore.

The Milalla of Treno have vowed to never forgot those words. They view that boundless optimism, that communal spirit, is Treno. No matter what comes or how hard it gets, the citizens of Treno choose joy over fear and stand together.[7]

Diet

Citizens of Treno regularly drink Sleepless Rhapsody in order to alleviate the symptoms of Levin Sickness and to recover from battle.[3]

Military

The citizens of Treno do not appear to have a conventional military but rather a loose citizens militia. Citizens fight alongside one another in defense of the city as a collective for survival, rather than organized groups.[8]

Treno does organize scouting teams and guard teams, but they appear to be manned by regular citizens who are capable in combat that volunteer.[1]

History

The oldest parts of Treno were built by Hyune and Eldite before the Milalla came.[7]

Arrival of the Milala

With the sudden arrival of the Lalafell from the Source, the mayor at the time was kind enough to take the Milalla's ancestors in, and gave them leave to establish their own residential quarter.[7]

The Storm Surge War

Treno remained neutral throughout the war.[1]

The Hyune and Eldite populations of Treno fled to Alexandria in the closing days of the Storm Surge, when death and destruction were everywhere, they believed it would be safer. Treno didn't have a barrier at first, but one of the industrious brethren had served as tutor in the royal household in Alexandria, and returned to Treno with knowledge of the barrier's design. It's thanks to him that the city survives to this day.[7]

With the Milalla focusing on attempting to return to their ancestral home, their ancestral treasure never did answer their prayers. And that left the previous Speaker Alayla, mired in doubt. It was then, when she was at her most vulnerable, that Preservation reached out to her. The people of Treno had all but given up when Preservation approached them with an offer of partnership. In working with them, the people of Treno lost their control over the key and ceased their intent to leave Treno.[2]

Disappearance of Alexandria

Treno scouts were sent to Alexandria, having witnessed the remnants of the nation, some returned with tales of a Queen Sphene who had not aged a day still leading the nation. Shortly after, Alexandria disappeared entirely without a trace, with the citizens of Treno having no idea why it had happened.[1] Some citizens of Treno had friends or loved ones who disappeared along with it.[3]

The Doom Train

The Doom Train passed near Treno some years ago, claiming many lives.[4]

Bonus

Trebuchet Battle Tactics

In the past when large creatures broke through the barrier, Treno's bravest fighters would launch themselves onto their backs with a trebuchet.[3]

Carnivals

The people of Treno can be seen discussing a carnival as a celebration after surviving an invasion attempt.[6]
