Side Stories is the overall term for the officially published Side Stories by Square Enix. These are additional stories published to enhance lore, world-building and characters within Finaly Fantasy XIV. They are published on the Lodestone for free.
Usually, these short stories are published after the respective expansion packs and patches released. The intention is to read them after their respective expansion and patches, since they contain Spoilers for the ongoing story.
For immersion reasons, some stories have a toggle between Warrior of Light: Male and Warrior of Light: Female, so the player can chose in which gender their Warrior of Light should be addressed as.
They can be accessed on their own category called Side Stories.
Additional stories along those that have been posted on the lodestone have been published in the Chronicles of Light book series.
Tales from the Calamity
This set of short stories contain content and spoilers up to Patch 2.0. The stories can be accessed here.
- Where Victory and Glory Lead
Merlwyb commands the Maelstrom in the Battle of Carteneau and orders a retreat. She wakes up on the ship back to Limsa Lominsa.
- The Sultana's Seven
Nanamo watches the Immortal Flames leaving Ul'dah for the Battle of Carteneau. Once the battle is over, she headed into the city, where chaos emerged.
- Of Friends Lost and Found
Kan-E-Senna walks the Carteneau Flats after the battle is over. She spares the life of a Garlean, and meets members of the Cirlce of Knowing.
- The Walker's Path
Minfilia receives a late nameday present from Thancred in the Quicksand prior to the Umbral Calamity.
- In Louisoix's Wake
Alphinaud and Alisaie watch the vessel with which their grandfather Louisoix leave port, recalling the day when they received their grimoires.

Estinien is woken up from a Nightmare by Aymeric. They have been dispatched to a sighting of a Dragon to Ever Lakes.

Francel thinks about his first meeting with Haurchefant at a dinner party at Fortemps Manor.

Ser Vaindreau de Rouchemande has his doubts about Archbishop Thordan VII.

Alphinaud is sleepless in his chamber in Fortemps Manor and reads in his journal.
- A Malm in Her Shoes
Alisaie makes the acquaintance to young Emery, the travelling merchant.
- Thoughts Unspoken
A manservant finds a letter from Haurchefant addressed to the Warrrior of Light - and is determined to deliver it.

Cid and Nero meeting for the first time at the Magitek Academy' central library. They prepare for a contest, and witness something strange with Midas nan Garlond.

In the Eighth Umbral Era, it is the night before G'raha Tia travels back to the First with the Crystal Tower to alter the past for a brighter future.

Artoirel is attending a sitting as a member of the House of Lords in Ishgard, when remembering the day Archbishop Thordan VII came to power.

Zelenia and Otis mourn about the passing of Queen Sphene, when the first rumours of her true passing rise up.

Eheeya, better known as Dancing Green, gets introduced to the nightlife of Solution Nine by a stranger.
- A Silent Vow
Bakool Ja Ja is now part of the Landsguard to atone through service. He ventures to Urqopacha and asks Tobli if there is aught he can help with.

Sphene attends a funeral on top of Everkeep, and with permission of the relatives, seek out a woman called Wezikwe.
