Lore

"The world is dead, and writhe as we might, like maggots in its rotting corse, it will not be reborn."

The leader of an infamous band of assassins, Zal'bard, found himself in Eulmore at the time of the Flood at its mayor's request. His home swallowed by Light, he chose to remain in the city and work to exterminate the sin eaters. Ran'jit, his son, would inherit this duty, leading the Eulmoran Army and fighting on the front lines with the Oracles of Light he diligently raised.

The fact that Ran'jit remained a military asset at eighty-eight may be attributed to rigorous training. It is also speculated that one of his forebears was of a longer-lived people, though this heritage was deliberately obfuscated—his clan's assassins encouraged to seek mates of myriad races that their offspring might ply their trade undetected. Regardless, Ran'jit was a force to be reckoned with until he met his end by the Warrior of Darkness's hand, joining his Oracles of Light in death.

Gukumatz

Gukumatz was born of forbidden magicks that use the caster's blood to give a familiar its shape, the creature's strength increasing with its master's daily meditation. Ran'jit first summoned Gukumatz when he was but a boy, and eighty summers of blood and meditation later, it was possessed of incredible power-enough to bear its master aloft or shroud him in ability-enhancing apparel, among other things.
