After Daedalus Stoneworks withdrew from the area, leading to the mining industry's further decline, this Ronso engineer decided to leave the Hills of Amber behind for his family's safety. The eaters found them anyway, claiming the life of Magnus's son, Skuli. To honor his memory, Magnus returned to Twine to set the trolley in motion as his boy had always wished and, after three years of trial and error, it was clear that a new Talos heart could provide the motive power required. Agna, a superb prospector and Magnus's beloved wife, labored extensively to retrieve the necessary materials-until the mining runnels suffered a collapse, leaving Magnus twice bereft at the age of thirty-five. The trolley sat silent on its tracks for four long years, awaiting the day that he would be moved to action once more.
