The Eigtht Umbral Era takes place in an alternate timeline of the Source. It follows the Eighth Umbral Calamity.
Summary of Events
After Black Rose ravaged, those who survived fell into an age of constant unrest. Garlond Ironworks have made it their mission to find ways to avert the Eighth Umbral Calamity and took shelter within the remains of the Keeper of the Lake.
About 200 years after the calamity, the eigthteenth president of Garlond Ironworks finally was able to open the Syrcus Tower and wake the slumbering G'raha Tia within. With his help, the engineers would see the tower transported through time and space unto the First. [1] With this, they hoped he would be able to undo the Calamity and save the world from this fate.
The Warrior of Light is displayed as the "greatest hero of the age. One immortalized in song and script, and remembered to this very day."[2] It is the Ironworks' plan to alter history and save them, for only they seem to be able to do it.
With G'raha Tia and the Crystal Tower gone, the remaining engineers of Garlond Ironworks wondered if they would be expunged from existence. But they remained. After the Crystal Tower vanishes, Midgardsormr awakens. He looks intently at the Omega replica that was still around - in need of repair, but jokingly referred to as a "senior member of the Ironworks".
When Midgardsomr asks the eigthteenth president of Garlond Ironworks what he sees at his dreams end, he replies that he sees a "world pulled back from a brink". Midgardsormr than agrees to grant them protection, helping them rebuild and gaining newfound knowledge, ushering them into a new Astral Era.[3]
