For this exercise, ye'll learn to establish enmity with a ranged attack. In battle, yer enemies won't care naught for “fair.” Stroll into a pack o' foes, an' yer askin' to get swarmed. An' yer [ranged attack] technique'll be the tool for the job.

— In-game description

Tank Training - Exercise 6: Execute a Ranged Attack to Increase Enmity is a level 15 Hall of the Novice exercise introduced in patch 3.2 with Heavensward.

General Information

  • This exercise cannot be done without the completion of the level 15 class quest. You will not be able to queue for it if you do not have the ranged attack unlocked.
  • This training exercise is the sixth in a series of eight for the tank role in Hall of the Novice, which becomes available when you unlock dungeons.
  • Execute a Ranged Attack to Increase Enmity is exclusive to the tank role training exercises, unlike the first and final exercise of Hall of the Novice.
  • This training exercise is designed to introduce a scenario in which the ranged attack would be useful. There will be six live targets, three sets of two monsters each, the goal being to break off two at a time until all are defeated. An ally will be standing nearby to help defeat the monsters.
  • Success in this training exercise is based on your execution of the ranged attack to only take two monsters at a time. Failing this exercise is based on whether you accrue more than one set of monsters at a time, or if all of the monsters are engaged all at once.
  • A recommendation on how to handle this would be to angle the attack from the outside in.
