“Do ye recall how ye built enmity in the last exercise? This time ye'll be testin' that combination on a proper opponent. I've said this before, lass but it bears repeatin': yer job is to soak up the pain, an' keep yer mates safe. An' ye do that by directin' the foe's enmity onto yerself. If yer ally's still standin' at the end o' the fight, I'll count that as a win!
— In-game description
Tank Training - Exercise 3: Execute a Combo in Battle is a level 15 Hall of the Novice exercise introduced in patch 3.2 with Heavensward.
General Information
- This training exercise is the third in a series of eight for the tank role in Hall of the Novice, which becomes available when dungeons are unlocked.
- Execute a Combo in Battle is exclusive to the tank role training exercises, unlike the first and final exercises of Hall of the Novice, which are shared among all roles.
- This training exercise is the same premise as the previous exercise, but with live targets instead of dummies. This is designed to get you more comfortable with the specific combo that will help you generate enmity and keep threat on targets. The enmity stance also plays an important role in this exercise, as it will for the rest of the exercises.
- In this exercise, the goal is to keep the single live target away from the caster ally, and to make sure the ally is not hit and/or killed.
- Success in this training exercise is based on whether the live target is taken down, and kept from hitting and killing your ally. Consequently, you fail this exercise when you or your ally dies.
