Guide

Animated guide by Big Kobe

Transcluded from the original article:

Players will enter a circular arena and witness Byakko's transformation from a White Tiger into a more humanoid form. Bear in mind that the outer edges of the arena during the first and second phase are entirely safe. However, this does not apply during the transitional Free-Fall Phase in-between.

Phase 1

Phase 1 Abilities
Name Description
Storm Pulse Unavoidable party-wide damage.
Heavenly Strike A tankbuster.
State of Shock Byakko grabs the main tank and creates a stack marker on the opposite of the arena. Players in the stack, including the grabbed tank, are inflicted with Physical Vulnerability Up for 10 seconds.

This is then repeated a second time with the second highest enmity player.

  • When a player is grabbed, their enmity is completely reset.
Unrelenting Anguish Several red orbs spiral outwards from the center of the arena, which inflict moderate damage and Vulnerability Up if touched.

One tank, one healer, and one DPS are debuffed with Ominous Wind for 10 seconds, causing these players to explode if too close to each other.

Fire and Lightning A large simple line AoE aimed towards a random player.
Hakutei A large white tiger enemy that splits from Byakko. Attacks with frequent cleaves.
Aratama Two random non-tank players are marked by targeting reticles. Three puddles are dropped on these players sequentially, which inflict a powerful 10 second Bleeding debuff if stepped in.
Distant Clap A large simple donut AoE centered on Byakko.
White Herald A flare marker targeting the player with the highest enmity against Hakutei.
Roar of Thunder A 20 second cast that deals party-wide damage based on Hakutei's remaining health on completion. Spawns 8 Aramitama Souls around the edges of the arena that slowly fly to Hakutei.

Aramitama Souls will heal Hakutei, but will burst if touched by a player, dealing minor damage and inflicting Physical Damage Down for 4 seconds.

The first phase is fairly straight-forward with clear telegraphs and few things that would catch the group off-guard.

For State of Shock, players may want to assign two light parties to organize which players take the first and second stack. Due to the Physical Vulnerability Up, players can not be in both stacks. Additionally, a grabbed tank completely loses all enmity on Byakko. The main tank will want to cast Provoke after the first stack to re-establish enmity lead.

Once Hakutei is summoned, Byakko should be pulled to the north edge while Byakko is kept towards the center. This will give the off-tank time to run away with White Herald while the rest of the party groups up under Byakko to dodge Distant Clap.

Lastly, Roar of Thunder serves as a DPS check. As the Aramitama Souls deal minimal damage, healers should burst all orbs to ensure no DPS players are inflicted by Physical Damage Down.

Once the rotation ends, a cutscene will play, launching all players into the air and beginning a transitional phase.

Phase 1 Rotation
Attack Strategy
Storm Pulse --
Heavenly Strike Mitigate and heal.
State of Shock Assign 3 players to stand in the first stack, with the remaining players taking the second stack. Ensure the main tank uses Provoke to regain enmity after being grabbed.
Unrelenting Anguish Avoid the orbs while the debuffed players stay away from each other.
Fire and Lightning Dodge the AoE.
Hakutei + Aratama Marked players should drop the puddles along the edges of the arena. Have the main tank pull Byakko to the north edge and Hakutei to the center.

Byakko will skip to this attack if brought to 60% HP prior to Unrelenting Anguish.

Storm Pulse --
Heavenly Strike --
White Herald + Distant Clap The marked off-tank should run to the opposite side of the arena away from Byakko while the rest of the group runs underneath Byakko.
Fire and Lightning Dodge the AoE.
Storm Pulse --
Roar of Thunder Have healers pick up all the orbs while the rest of the party focuses on damaging Hakutei.
Free-Fall Transition Start

Free-Fall Transition

After being launched into the air, the party will begin Falling. No actions (e.g. attacks or healing) can be performed at this time. During the phase, the outer ring of the arena will kill any player who touches it.
Byakko will begin firing orbs from far below which players must avoid. Periodically, Byakko will leap up and cast a simple donut AoE which must be avoided by moving into the center. Lastly, Hakutei will occasionally cast a simple line AoE through the center.
Should you survive the onslaught, the party will land (stunned) and be blasted with Fell Swoop, a massive party-wide attack from Byakko, killing any player who took too much damage during the free-fall.

Phase 2

Phase 2 Abilities
Name Description
Hundredfold Havoc Two sets of moving AoEs from the center outwards: one on cardinal directions and one on inter-cardinals. Inflicts a cleansable 15 second Paralysis.
Sweep The Leg An unmarked 270 degree frontal cone AoE. Deals high damage and knockback.
Gale Force Marks a tank, healer, and DPS with three spread circles. These circles drop Vacuum Claw puddles that grow massive over time and inflict rapid stacks of Vulnerability Up while inside.

After 20 seconds, these puddles explode with Vacuum Blade, dealing high unavoidable party-wide damage.

While following a similar flow to Phase 1, the addition of several new AoEs limits the space players will have to dodge and position.

Gale Force should be placed equidistant on the edges of the arena. As this always targets a tank, healer, and DPS, players can be assigned positions via waymarks on where to drop Vacuum Claw puddles.

Once Hakutei is summoned, players will be given significantly less time to damage it before Roar of Thunder is cast. Additionally, Byakko will not leave the arena during the cast, casting Storm Pulse and occupying a tank throughout.

Once Byakko reaches the end of their rotation, they will enrage with multiple casts of Storm Pulse before one final longer cast that wipes the party.
