The Aesthetician, also known as Jandelaine, allows players to change their hairstyles, facial features, tattoos and other cosmetic features. Each customization session will cost 2,000 gil. To unlock the Aesthetician, players must complete the level 15 quest Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep. Players can start the quest by talking to S'dhodjbi at Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.1 Y:11.0).

After completing the quest, players can summon the Aesthetician by using the Crystal Bell in any Inn Room (excluding inns in Norvrandt). The player can try out any of the appearance options they have unlocked. At the end, they can either "Accept" the changes or "Cancel". The player is only charged ( 2,000 or one Jandelaine's Token) if they accept the change. Cancelling is free, and will not save any changes made to the player character.

The aesthetician was added in Patch 2.1 along with new hairstyles and other customization options not available at release.
- Prior to Patch 2.3, the aesthetician was summoned with the retainer bell instead of his own dedicated Crystal Bell.
New customization options will be released in the future.

Available services

The following is a list of customization options available from the aesthetician: Hair style, hair color, eye brows, lip color, facial features (scars, etc.), tattoos, tattoo colors, earrings, earring colors, face paint, face paint colors.

Certain hair colors or face paints are not available by default, and instead need to be unlocked by using a "modern aesthetics" item (for hair) or "modern cosmetics" item (for face paint). These are "registrable" items, meaning after the item is consumed once, that particular hair style/face paint/etc is permanently unlocked as an option for that character.

While in the aesthetician menu, the player character will be wearing the same outfit they were in when the aesthetician was summoned, but with their headgear removed. There is an option in the menu to re-enable the headgear, if desired.

To change other aspects of their character (such as: eye color, race, sex, body build, animal ear/tail features, etc), players will need to use a Fantasia.
