Guide to Spending Poetics

Updated version of how to spend Poetics for Dawntrail.

I just want Gil

Using the
Market Board (check Universalis):
- Unidentifiable Ore → Grade 3 Thanalan Topsoil
- Unidentifiable Shell → Grade 3 Shroud Topsoil
- Using Company Seals (see below)
  - Buy Shields and turn in for seals.
- Obsolete crafting mats (ex Eikon Mythrite, Gobcraft Resin, and Scarlet Urushi)
Using Vendor NPCs
- Buy Goblinol or Goblacquer and vendor for 64 Gil each. 2000 / 10 * 64 = 12,800 Gil per cap.

I want Company Seals

Buy the highest item level shield you can (ex Augmented Vessel) directly from the endgame vendor (not Sundry Splendors) for 170 Poetics. Turn in to your Grand Company.
- Up to four shields may be held by default, one in your chocobo saddlebags, two with retainers, and one in the armory chest or inventory.
- Rings may be more easily bought in bulk as they are not UNIQUE, however this is ( 1 - ( 170 / 280 ) ) * 100 = 39.28% less Company Seals per Poetic.
For Gil, spend Company Seals on materials commonly used in Free Company Airships and Submersibles. This includes Glass Fiber, Raziqsap, Scheelite, Emery, Petrified Log, Raziqsand, Peacock Ore, Aqueous Whetstone, Potash, Hardened Sap, and Coke
- To use Vendor NPCs for Gil, spend seals on Bamboo Paper (available at Second Lieutenant or higher). This will earn a consistent 360 per 600, or 54,000 for a full inventory of 90,000 at max rank.

When converting from a full inventory of 2,000 Poetics to Gil using the above methods, this earns the following:

12,960 when purchasing Level 90 Shields ( 2,000 -> 11x Augmented Vessel -> 21,956 -> 36x Bamboo Paper -> 12,960)
8,280 when purchasing Level 90 Rings ( 2,000 -> 7x Augmented Credendum Ring -> 13,972 -> 23x Bamboo Paper -> 8,280)
(for Free Trial players) 10,080 when purchasing Level 70 Shields ( 2,000 -> 11x Augmented Scaevan Magitek Shield -> 17,050 -> 28x Bamboo Paper -> 10,080)
(for Free Trial players) 6,480 when purchasing Level 70 Rings ( 2,000 -> 7x Augmented Scaevan Ring -> 10,850 -> 18x Bamboo Paper -> 6,480)

Alternatively, you can get lucky with Materiel Container 3.0 and Materiel Container 4.0 but treat these like the lootboxes they are. It is not reliable cash.

I want to level Desynthesis

Buy the cheapest appropriate IL gear for the crafter you want to level
- Carpenter - Spears/Bows
- Blacksmith - Swords
- Armorer - Shields
- Goldsmith - Accessories/Star Globes/Rapiers
- Leatherworker - Armor (double-check repair class)
- Weaver - Armor (double-check repair class)
- Alchemist - Books or Brushes
- Culinarian - You can't, use Fish instead

Always double-check the crafter class needed to repair the item first. This is the same class that desynthesizes the item. Chug Tinker's Calm and scarf down Bacon Broth before desynth bingeing.

I want Relic Weapon materials

Numbers are items per job and totals are for all jobs. This is not the costs of the items.
The purpose of these numbers is so that you know when to stop buying one item and begin buying the next one.

A Realm Reborn: Zodiac Weapons (10 relics)
- Superior Enchanted Ink - 3 per for 30 total
- Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil - 1 per for 10 total, but they are UNIQUE so you can only have 1 per container.
- Thavnairian Mist - 3 per for 30 total
  - +10 for the one-time quest Kettle to the Mettle.
- Mysterious Maps - 5 Alexandrite per map, 75 per weapon, 15 maps per class
  - The Mysterious Maps are UNIQUE but Alexandrite is not. Complete each map as they are purchased.
  - +50 Alexandrite for the one-time quest Kettle to the Mettle.
- Book phase requires 9 per for 90 total, but these cannot be stockpiled.
- Sacred Spring Water - 4 per for 40 total
Heavensward: Anima Weapons (13 relics)
- Unidentifiable Bone - 10 per for 130 total
- Unidentifiable Shell - 10 per for 130 total
- Unidentifiable Ore - 10 per for 130 total
- Unidentifiable Seeds - 10 per for 130 total
- Aether Oil - 5 per for 65 total
- Umbrite - 60 per for 780 total
  - Optional (other sources available): 150 Superior Enchanted Ink & 150 Thavnairian Mist to trade for 60 Crystal Sand. This is a single relic's worth.
  - This assumes worst-case RNG - the cost for one weapon will not exceed 60. With decent luck, the amount needed may be slightly lower, generally 57-60.
- Singing Cluster - 50 per for 650 total
- Pneumite - 15 per for 195 total (Can't be bought until first weapon is on this step)
- Archaic Enchanted Ink - 1 per for 13 total (Can't be bought until first weapon is on this step)
Stormblood: Eurekan Weapons (15 relics)
- No Poetics used, all progress in Eureka.
Shadowbringers: Resistance Weapons (17 relics)
- Thavnairian Scalepowder - 4 per for 64 total (first relic is free)
- Aetherial Sealant - 4 per (Used to reroll stats, not needed to make relic)
Endwalker: Manderville Weapons (19 relics)
- Manderium Meteorite - 3 per for 57 total
- Complementary Chondrite - 3 per for 57 total
- Amplifying Achondrite - 3 per for 57 total
- Cosmic Crystallite - 3 per for 57 total
- Uniquely, Manderville Weapons only require Poetics for all stages and no other form of currency or item grinds.
