Lore
“As a grizzled (albeit soused) veteran once said, any weapon can be ranged so long as one has the strength to throw it. There is perhaps no greater proof of this than the myriad fanciful arms employed by dancers in their campaign against the Totentanz.
Shortswords and the like have long been employed in acrobatic performances, and thus were the natural weapon of choice for dancers to dazzle their audiences and protect their persons both. AS they continued to weave ever more dynamic steps and tosses into their dances, however, they began to experiment with other implements—most notably the chakrams seen in religious images and ceremonies of eld, which through dedicated choreographical trial were eventually forged into the mesmerizing, deadly weapons associated with dancers today.

Prominent Designs
War Quoits
“Most believe war quoits to be a rather extreme evolution of curved swords such as the Near Eastern shamshir. As testament to these origins, the weapon retains a small grip, making it ideal for those untested in the art of tossing naked blades.

Chakrams
“Novices will note with no little amount of horro the striking lack of handle on these full-bladed quoits, developed from the ceremonial chakrams of eld. The expert, conversely, has no trouble manipulating the weapons' centrifugal force with a few well-placed fingers to hit their target with lethal accuracy.

Far Eastern Chakrams
“The chakram is thought to have made its way to the Far East via the hands of wandering ascetic monks. As local swordsmiths put their own distinctive materials and techniques into its re-creation, however, the Far Eastern chakram differs from its Near Eastern cousins more than is obvious at first glance.

Glaives
“The name of these multi-pronged throwing weapons derives from that of the relatively diminutive Ilsabardian gladius—proof of the lasting impact of the simple shortsword on the dancers' craft.

Tathlums
“It is apparent at first glance that the smithing of the tathlum requires tricks beyond the average mortal's ken. Though the weapons' name seems to refer to the shining slingstones wielded by ancient gods, their origins and construction remain steeped in mystery.

Windfire Wheels
“Kami wielding wheels or rings are far from uncommon in Far Eastern legend. These particular weapons are named for wheels wreathed in divine fire that were tossed to the winds to purge the realm of evil.
