Bicolor Gemstone
“A precious stone that shimmers with multiple hues.
— In-game description
Bicolor Gemstones were introduced in Shadowbringers (patch 5.0) as the currency for the Shared FATE system. They can be used to purchase a variety of items from Gemstone Traders. As of patch 7.0, players may hold a maximum of 1,500 gemstones at once.
Acquisition
Each FATE completed with a Gold Medal rating will reward Bicolor Gemstones, with the amount of gemstones varying by the expansion the zone is from:
| Reward | Zones |
|---|---|
They drop in greater quantities from rare, large-scale boss FATEs, including:
| Reward | FATEs |
|---|---|
| The Serpentlord Seethes Mascot Murder | |
| Devout Pilgrims vs. Daivadipa Omicron Recall: Killing Order | |
| A Finale Most Formidable The Head, the Tail, the Whole Damned Thing |
As of 7.0, FATE experience bonuses will also increase the amount of Bicolor Gemstones given by the FATE:
| Task | Gemstone increase |
|---|---|
| Defeat a Forlorn Maiden or The Forlorn during a FATE | +25% ( |
| Clear a FATE while having the |
+50% ( |
| Clear an up-arrow (EXP Bonus) FATE | +100% ( |
| Clear a FATE while having the |
+300% ( |
These bonuses can be combined, and they stack additively. For example:
- Killing a Forlorn Maiden with the
Twist of Fate buff grants a total increase of +75% (
12 in 7.0 areas). - The
Twist of Fate buff consumed on an EXP bonus FATE grants a total increase of +150% (
24 in 7.0 areas). - The
Twist of Fate buff consumed on an EXP bonus FATE where a Forlorn Maiden was killed grants a total increase of +175% (
28 in 7.0 areas). - The
Twist of Fate buff from The Forlorn consumed on an EXP bonus FATE increases the amount to +400% (
64 in 7.0 areas). - Other combinations could be had involving The Forlorn instead of Forlorn Maiden, but it's very rare for it to appear in the first place.
However, as the increase isn't multiplicative, there is no difference in net gemstone gain from spending stacked bonuses together, compared to spending bonuses separately. An exception to this would be saving a
Twist of Fate buff to be spent on a large-scale boss FATE, as the buff would effectively give more gemstones than it would from other FATEs.
