Stamina

Stamina is a Racing Chocobo Stat that affects the amount of points in a chocobo's stamina bar. The max stamina in a gauge is approximately 1,000 points for starter chocobos, and 2,000 points for chocobos with a stamina stat of 500 (the maximum), increasing linearly.

Having more stamina means more is available to be spent on accelerating and maintaining max speed. This also decreases the chance of running out of stamina, at which point acceleration would no longer be possible.

Having higher stamina can lessen the impact of effects that increase/decrease a flat amount of stamina. For example:

• Choco Drain III decreases enemy chocobos' stamina by 35 points per second. This amount of points becomes less-detrimental as the target's stamina stat increases, as the stamina lost represents a smaller percentage of their stamina bar.
• Choco Reraise III restores stamina by 200 points upon hitting 0 stamina for the first time. For a chocobo whose max stamina is 1,000, this is effectively 20% of their bar; but for a chocobo whose max stamina is 2,000, this is only 10% of their bar.

However, effects that increase/decrease a percentage of stamina, will work the same regardless of max stamina. For example, the following are unaffected by a higher stamina stat:

• Choco Cure (6%, 9%, or 12% gain).
• Green magicked panels (7% gain) and Red magicked panels (15% loss).
• Hitting a hazard (3-5% loss).
• Briar Caltrop (5% loss per second, up to 4 seconds)
• Choco Meteor (20% loss).

An exception is Bacchus's Water, which does have its effect lessened by higher max stamina. It effectively just forces a Lathered state penalty for its duration, rather than touching the stamina bar directly - therefore, higher max stamina results in a lower percentage of the bar lost over the course of Bacchus's Water's effect.

Stamina is generally considered the second-most-important stat, after Maximum Speed. It can be used effectively to maintain high speeds, even when item boxes are not being generous.
