Acceleration is a Racing Chocobo Stat that affects how quickly a chocobo can increase its speed. A higher acceleration stat means the chocobo can reach its maximum speed faster.
Acceleration is relevant for:
- Initially reaching max speed from the start of a race.
- Recovering back to max speed after being hit by speed-decreasing hazards or
Graviballs. - Maneuvering, such as when attempting to avoid an enemy's
Briar Caltrop, or intentionally positioning one's own Caltrop onto an enemy. - Budgeting stamina - that is, accelerating sparingly instead of just holding the button. A higher acceleration stat can allow for a larger speed gain during those short bursts.
Acceleration is generally considered the least-important stat in endgame builds. The ability
Head Start makes the chocobo start a race at max speed, removing Acceleration's utility in that case; and even in the budgeting use-case, Endurance is more effective as it allows for maintaining a higher speed without getting the Lathered state.
