Description
Some naturalists believe—against all evidence to the contrary—that rroneek are in fact a species of fish, and point to this ancient horned wavekin as some kind of progenitor. Regardless of one's thoughts on the matter, the creature's horns certainly evoke their land-dwelling namesake.

There is a collectable fish at this spot, but is not relevant to the strategy. Fishers may want to disable Collector's Glove to avoid dealing with the dialogue box pop-up when it is caught by accident.
General warning for Swimbait preparation: The fish will "become wary" 50 real-world minutes after you first cast your line from a particular spot. If you begin your prepartion more than 50 minutes before the end of the Rroneek Bichir's window, you will eventually need to move (losing any saved Swimbait when you do).
Niikwerepi Trout (for first Mooch)
- Niikwerepi Trout is a !! fish. It has no time or weather requirements. It prefers the Popper Lure
- Tailtrout is a good Surface Slap target due to its catch rate and similar bite time.
- Catch 3 Niikwerepi Trout as swimbait, and hold a fourth until Ttokatoa's window starts.
- Building 10 stacks of Angler's Art before holding the final Trout is recommended (for use with Makeshift Bait later).
Ttokatoa (for second Mooch)
- Ttokatoa has the same weather requirements as Rroneek Bichir, but its window begins two hours earlier in Eorzean time (at 20:00). This is roughly 6 minutes in real-world time.
- Ttokatoa is mooched from Niikwerepi Trout. (Note: Niikwerepi Trout does not mooch into itself, so a !! bite is a failure.)
- If possible, catch 3 Ttokatoa as swimbait and hold fourth until Rroneek Bichir's window starts. Otherwise just do your best. (Stocking Niikwerepi Trout may also be advisable.)
- If possible, save stacks of Angler's Art for the Rroneek Bichir window.
- Rroneek Bichir is mooched from Ttokatoa. (Note: Ttokatoa can mooch into itself. However, any !! bite is a failure.)
- When possible, use Patience II at the beginning of the window or when restarting a mooch chain. (Patience and Patience II will cancel current mooch attempts, but do not affect swimbait.)
