Collectables

Collectables is a feature for crafting and gathering classes first introduced in Heavensward (3.0).

A collectable is essentially a tiered rarity, separate from High Quality, that is indicated with its own icon: on items and in the   Crafting Log. The higher an item's collectability number, the more Experience Experience, Purple Crafters' Scrip Purple Crafters' Scrips/Purple Gatherers' Scrip Purple Gatherers' Scrips, or Orange Crafters' Scrip Orange Crafters' Scrips/Orange Gatherers' Scrip Orange Gatherers' Scrips will be rewarded. Collectables cannot be stacked or sold either to regular merchants or on the Market Board, nor can they be consumed or used as material for synthesis. As with High Quality, you may irreversibly downgrade a collectable to a normal item that can then be vendored or discarded. However, there is no way to convert a "Rarefied" item into a non-rarefied one; they are totally separate items.

These general-purpose collectable items can be turned in at any Collectable Appraiser, who are available at:

There are also specific collectibles for the Ishgardian Restoration, Custom Deliveries, and Aetherial Reduction.

Unlock

Players can unlock Collectables as a system by completing the level 50 quest Feature Quest Inscrutable Tastes. Players start the quest by talking to Morgayne in Foundation (X:10.1 Y:10.4). It requires the prior completion of the level 50 Heavensward MSQ Main Scenario Quest The Better Half.

Additionally, further levels of the Scrip Exchange are unlocked in each expansion. Beginning with Stormblood's Feature Quest Reach Long and Prosper, these quests are single conversations without Journal entries. Once an expansion's inventory is unlocked, it becomes available at all Scrip Exchange NPCs:

Crafting

Collectables can be found in a dedicated tab in the Crafting Log under Special Recipes (the bag with a star icon under Recipe Level). The drop-down menu for crafting Collectables is near the bottom, separated into five categories: levels 50-60, levels 61-70, levels 71-80, levels 81-90, and levels 91-100. When crafting an item, the collectability of an item is determined by its quality divided by 10 and rounded down to a whole number.

High Quality and collectable are mutually exclusive after the patch 5.3 changes; items can only be crafted as one or the other. With patch 6.1, the collectability thresholds are now visible on the crafting screen (see right).

All general-purpose collectables are prefixed Rarefied, and are crafted with similar ingredients as the non-Rarefied version.

For a full list of general-purpose crafted collectables with thresholds and scrips, see: Collectables/Crafted.

Gathering (Miner/Botanist)

Patch 6.2
Patch 6.2
Patch 6.3
Patch 6.3

Collectables can be gathered at various nodes starting at level 50, and turned in at the Collectable Appraiser in various cities for Purple Gatherers' Scrip Purple Gatherers' Scrips (for level 50-99 collectables) or Orange Gatherers' Scrip Orange Gatherers' Scrips (for level 100 collectables) and Experience experience. Unspoiled items earn much more; it is recommended to focus on unspoiled items as their nodes have a minimum of six gathering attempts, allowing you to gather more items after reaching the desired collectability. They are usually the optimal way to earn experience points for little effort.

To gather a collectable, interact with the node, reach the item, and click on the desired collectable. You can identify which items in the node are collectables by seeing the icon next to the item name. When selecting a collectable, a new window will appear with actions specific to collectables (see right). You can increase the item's collectability using actions, then "Collect" the item once the desired collectability is reached. The Collect action succeeds at your gathering rate (as shown by the percentage at the very top). The appraisal actions are based on perception.

Gathered collectibles usually have a separate non-Rarefied version (as of Patch 5.4). These cannot be converted between the types, and the Rarefied items cannot be used as ingredients in recipes in place of the non-Rarefied ones. The different versions will never be found together on the same node. Previously, you could gather the items that only had use as a collectable in a non-collectable form, which is why this change was made.

For a full list of general-purpose gathered collectables with thresholds and scrips, see: Collectables/Gathered.

Increasing Collectability

The following appraisal actions increase the collectability of an item:

  •   Scour - Increases collectability and reduces the node's integrity.
  •   Brazen Prospector (miner) / Brazen Woodsman (botanist) - Increases collectability by a random amount (50% to 150% of Scour's potency) and reduces the node's integrity.
  •   Meticulous Prospector (miner) / Meticulous Woodsman (botanist) - Increases collectability by 75% of Scour's potency and has a chance to not reduce the node's integrity.

Additionally,   Scrutiny can be used before any appraisal action to further increase the amount of collectability added (based on the player's perception rating). This does not affect the node's integrity.

Collector's Intuition

When using collectable actions, there is a chance to trigger Collector's Intuition, granting a bonus to collectability. The change of triggering this bonus increases with a higher perception rating.

  •   Collector's Focus can be used to increase the chance to trigger Collector's Intuition.
  • Additionally, the later stages of the Splendorous and Cosmic relic tools also increase this chance.

Collector's Standard

When using collectable actions, there is a chance the player will be granted the effect of Collector's Standard. While under this effect, the potency of Brazen and Meticulous actions is increased significantly.

Prime and Sublime Collectables

Prime Collectable items that have reached maximum collectability will, on occasion, yield exceedingly rare items from   Aetherial Reduction. Moreover, these prime collectables may also become Sublime when they are gathered with maximum collectability, which guarantees a yield of rare items from aetherial reduction. A higher gathering rate increases your chances of a Prime collectable becoming Sublime.

Gathering (Fisher)

Fishing for collectables works differently from other Disciples of Land. To catch collectable fish, you simply enable   Collect to activate the Collector's Glove buff and fish (or spearfish) as normal. Any fish capable of being a collectable that you catch with Collector's Glove active will have a random amount of collectability influenced by the fisher's perception rating.

Fish caught as collectables cannot have their yield increased by using   Double Hook or   Triple Hook; the fisher will only receive a single collectable fish.

Note: It is possible to catch collectable fish in a non-collectable form if you forget to enable   Collect. Non-collectable versions of those fish generally have no use, although some are used for Fisher's Intuition to catch particular species of fish.

For a full list of general-purpose gathered collectables with thresholds and scrips, see: Fishing Collectables.

Increasing Collectability

The collectable score is directly related to the fish's length, so actions which increase the chances to catch large-sized fish or otherwise affect the size of the fish will therefore also increase the collectability rating.

Fishing Actions:

  •   Patience II gives a buff which both increases the odds of catching large-sized fish, and of catching average-sized fish of greater length.
  •   Prize Catch guarantees that the next catch will be a large-sized fish.
  •   Big-game Fishing increases the chance that the next large-sized fish caught will be an especially large specimen. (This chance increases based on the fisher's perception rating.)

Spearfishing Actions:

  •   Nature's Bounty increases the chance of landing a large-sized fish on the next spearfishing attempt. (This chance increases based on the fisher's perception rating.)
