Notes
- Curiously, this action's recast time is 2.4 seconds which red mage's full GCD timer in PvP (in contrast with its PvE variant, which is 2.2 seconds, and the first two hits of the combo being 1.5 seconds). Because of this, it is impossible for all three hits of red mage's enchanted melee combo to pierce Guard while also having the GCD ready upon opponents exiting Guard, potentially allowing them to Recuperate before additional damage is dealt. There are two options red mages can consider to counteract this:
- It is preferable to execute Enchanted Riposte whenever possible, even to targets who are not Guarding, so the cooldown is active while the combo is also active. Enchanted Zwerchhau and Enchanted Redoublement are both stronger hits, but the total time with the GCD active will ensure both hits will pierce Guard, while also having the GCD available immediately once targets are out of Guard.
- This will allow for Scorch, ideally with Displacement and Monomachy, to be executed. Because the damage from Scorch is inflicted (snapshotted) late, in addition for more of its damage to be done through damage over-time, it may be more preferable to execute Prefulgence, instead. The damage being inflicted late may also potentially allow opponents to Recuperate twice.
- Prefulgence may be more preferable because it also heals, which, in addition to red mage needing to be in melee range for their enchanted melee combo, will improve sustain – especially for nearby teammates. This capability is extended further if Embolden is also active. Prefulgence also deals more damage immediately, compared to Scorch doing more damage in total, but only over-time.
- In the case that Enchanted Riposte is not pre-emptively executed, only it and Enchanted Zwerchhau can be executed. In this scenario, red mages may consider executing Displacement, then executing Prefulgence to still immediately deal damage upon opponents exiting Guard.
