“The Diadem is a land where the aether is in constant flux, a phenomenon which gives rise to an ever-changing environment. Ishgard's leaders seek those versed in the field of foraging to travel to the Diadem and bring back resources needed for the Firmament's reconstruction.
— In-game description
The Diadem is a level 10 gathering foray introduced in patch 5.21 with Shadowbringers.
Requirements
- Level Requirement: Disciple of the Land level 10
- Party Size: One to eight players
- Up to 72 players can simultaneously be in the instance. Players may use "Gathering Forays" in the Party Finder to form parties prior to entering. Inside the instance players can freely join or leave parties, but Party Finder is disabled.
- Role Restrictions: Disciple of the Land
- Time Limit: 180 minutes
- The instance timer is specific to each player and commences upon entering the duty.
To start the duty and travel to the the Diadem, speak with Aurvael (X:10.8, Y:14.0) in the Firmament (after meeting the requirements).
Since access to the Diadem requires entering the Firmament, and entering the Firmament is restricted to your Home World, you cannot enter this duty from another World.
Unlock
After unlocking the Firmament by completing Towards the Firmament, speak with Aurvael in the Firmament (X:10.8, Y:14.0) on a Disciple of the Land of level 10 or higher to unlock the Diadem.

Miner & Botanist Gathering
All three Disciples of Land can gather items to exchange for crafting materials used for the Ishgardian Restoration. In doing so, they also earn level-adjusted experience, making it a great option regardless of the gatherer's level. Once their foray into the Diadem is complete, players can bring the gathered materials to Flotpassant (X:10.8, Y:14.0) in the Firmament for inspection. After doing so, players are rewarded with Skybuilders' Scrips and the "approved" materials used for Ishgard Restoration crafting recipes.
While Fishers function as they do elsewhere in the game, Miners and Botanists have slightly modified gathering mechanics in the Diadem:
- Gathering nodes in the Diadem have five integrity.
- Gathering nodes do not provide a single set of resources. Instead, these nodes have five variations, each of which has a specific set of gatherable items (listed below).
- Gathering nodes spawn sequentially along two paths for each profession. As such, not all gathering nodes are available at the same time. Finishing all gathering attempts at a node will cause the next one on that path to spawn.
- Nodes spawn clockwise for Miners, and counter-clockwise for Botanists.
- Six nodes on each path are available at any given point in time, spaced roughly equally along the path's circuit around the Diadem. Spawning the next node will progress the other corresponding five nodes on the same path.
- One path (for each profession) provides yield bonuses for Perception > 2642, while the other provides yield bonuses for Gathering > 2740. Additionally, both paths have a node with a bonus integrity for GP > 858.
- Along each path, meeting these stat breakpoints will provide +1 yield at the 4th node, +2 yield at the 6th, and +5 integrity at the 8th. (i.e. All corresponding nodes with +1 yield/+2 yield/+5 integrity bonuses are active at the same time.)
- The pattern resets after the 8th node on a path.
- The Compressed Aether gauge will add one full charge for every 40 gathering attempts. A maximum of five gauge charges can be held at once. Using the Aetheromatic Auger on an enemy will defeat it at the cost of one charge.

Umbral Weather Timed Nodes
Some resources are available only from timed nodes that spawn during Umbral weather. These nodes have 10 integrity.
The weather in the Diadem changes roughly every 10 minutes, alternating between non-umbral weather ( ) and umbral weather( ).
The particular umbral or non-umbral weather is random each time it changes.
After gathering from one of these timed nodes, players may exit the Diadem and re-enter the instance. Upon re-entry, they can gather from the node again. (Be warned, though, as re-entering will occasionally put the player in a different instance.)
During Umbral Flare, Miners can gather at (X:12.8, Y:9.6) in the Northwestern Pavilion.
During Umbral Levin, Miners can gather at (X:34.0, Y:13.3) in the Northeastern Pavilion.
During Umbral Duststorms, Botanists can gather at (X:29.5 , Y:33.1) in the Southeastern Pavilion.
During Umbral Tempest, Botanists can gather at (X:9.6, Y:30.3) in the Southwestern Pavilion.

Enemies
These enemies are allpassive and may only be killed with the Aetheromatic Auger. Additionally, certain enemies are only present during specific weather.
Defeating enemies with the Auger will yield a variety of Grade 4 restoration materials.
Normal Enemies
The Diadem Beast, Golem, Ice Bomb, Golem, and Zoblyn drop 5-15 of four of the following level 80 restoration materials, depending on the enemy type. The fifth material is instead replaced by 5-15 of a Level 80 ★★★ Artisanal material.
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Bluespirit Ore
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Finest Rock Salt
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Gold Ore
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Mineral Sand
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Truespring Water
The Diadem Bloated Bulb, Icetrap, Melia, Werewood, and Proto-noctilucale drop 5-15 of four of the following level 80 restoration materials, depending on the enemy type. The fifth material is instead replaced by 5-15 of a Level 80 ★★★ Artisanal material.
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Gossamer Cotton Boll
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Primordial Resin
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Tortoise
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' Wheat
- Grade 4 Skybuilders' White Cedar Log
The following chart shows which Artisanal material replaces the normal level 80 material for these enemies, as well as how many of that enemy spawn in a given pavilion.
Corrupted Sprites
Corrupted Sprites will spawn only during Umbral weather, and appear on all pavilions.
These Corrupted Sprites drop a quantity of elemental shards, crystals, and clusters, all of the same elemental type. The elemental type is random, and is completely unrelated to the weather.

Lore
Aetheromatic Auger
“By accumulating surrounding aether and focusing it through a lens of corrupted crystal, this experimental weapon has the potential to deal extensive damage to its target. However, not nearly enough aether exists in normal environs to lend it the necessary power, so it was repurposed as an excavation tool for the Diadem. Amongst the abundant aether of the islands, this tool earned its keep by obliterating menacing seedkin and soulkin, thereby gaining the Ishgardina Restoration project an abundance of raw materials.
