“

The chigoe is a hematophagous vilekin, and documented carrier of the disease known as the Creeping Death. After mating, the female flies close to the ground, in search of a large creature to which she might attach herself. Using her proboscis, she dispenses an acid which softens the victim's skin to create a cavity for laying her eggs. Chigoes occasionally feed on rare and powerful hosts, and their engorged remains are prized by alchemists.
