Once a pílus prior, Vitus was court-martialed and sentenced to death after butchering a village of innocent civilians. The top brass of the imperial army had other plans for the disgraced soldier, however, whose strength was said to rival that of the Black Wolf himself, and so they spared his life on one condition: that he fight for the Empire as a conscript in their battalion of desperate prisoners. There did he do much of the Empire's dirty work, seeing countless unspeakable missions to success until he had climbed the ranks of the Alaudae to the very pinnacle. The fifty-two-year-old would finally meet his match on a mission to assassinate the defector Cato Mammula in Coerthas, where he fought Radovan and a renowned adventurer to his dying breath.
