“A close cousin to the dhalmel, these towering beasts will, for the most part, avoid contact with man, instead choosing to spend their waking hours foraging the arid wastes of Gyr Abania for the young, tender leaf buds that sprout atop the land's rare sentinels. Yet, if threatened, the normally passive jhammel will use its pliant neck to pummel its tormentor without pause. This display of mettle beneath a cover of calm is believed to have inspired the Ala Mhigan idiom, "like a woken jhammel."
