Father of Volusus and husband to Vipsania, Frontinus fae Malicus graduated with honors from a prestigious academy and aspired to become a skilled magitek engineer, yet the abundance of talent in his generation made it difficult to achieve distinction. Frontinus thus decided to apply himself instead as a civil servant, and in this capacity he gradually worked his way up through the ranks.
Like many Garleans of modest status, the engineer of forty-three summers was wholly committed to the imperial cause. He hung the ivory standard outside his residence as a symbol of pride, often quoted The War on Ilsabard—a memoir of Emperor Solus's many achievements—and delighted in driving his prized Novus D automobile around the imperial capital with his family. Frontinus was assigned to Juturna Platform G as its chief engineer five years prior to the Empire's fall, and managed it to the best of his ability, knowing that the ceruleum flowing through the pipelines was the lifeblood that sustained both the machina of conquest and the heaters that kept his beloved family warm.
