Talk:Jammingway
Owing to the fact that the only confirmed female Loporrit, Livingway, has a brown coat instead of the normal white one, it's probably a safe assumption that all white Loporrits are male. Do any of the other dialogue languages besides English use gendered pronouns or the like with the other Loporrits? I know the English track goes out of its way to avoid gendering the Pixies, and I don't recall that with the Loporrits. Freedom4556 (talk) 21:05, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Is it really necessary to confirm Loporrits' gender? Given that they are arcane beings, they probably don't reproduce through biological means, even if they are rabbit-shaped. My general take is that it's not a good idea to assume this for new content, in case someone writes a character who disobeys this norm. It might be okay for content that has been out a while and is unlikely to change, such as the genders of Sylphs. ArcaneFocus (talk) 21:26, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
Why would you not want to know something, and be a wiki editor? I would like to fill out the fields if possible, and avoid grammatically incorrect use of singular "they." Just wondering if we're dealing with a Smurfette situation here. Freedom4556 (talk) 00:38, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- "I would like to fill out the fields if possible,"
- Personal preference, got it. ArcaneFocus (talk) 02:46, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- "and avoid grammatically incorrect use of singular "they.""
- The good news is, singular "they" is no longer considered incorrect. Merriam-Webster, APA style, and even Wikipedia now fully endorse the usage of singular "they." I'll keep an eye out for further information so that we can fill in those fields eventually.ArcaneFocus (talk) 02:46, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
