Scarab

While harrowing tales of the vilekin feeding on the flesh of recently interred corpses are not uncommon, most varieties of scarab beetles actually prefer the sweet, sticky sap of hardwood trees to the cold rotting flesh of a dead man. As is the case with many of Eorzea's vilekin, beetles of the scarab variety are also highly territorial creatures, charging and ramming intruders with reckless abandonment, using their hard chitinous shells as both a means for offense and defense.
