The practice of ritual mummification has existed in many cultures throughout Eorzea's history, and bodies relatively untouched by the hands of time are uncovered so often by archaelogists, tomb raiders, and even miners that their discovery is rarely cause for note. There do exist, however, some mummies that have been ensorcelled with long-lasting magicks that grant temporary life to the long-dead cadavers so that they might protect their sepulchres from molestation.
