Dialogue
Well, I never... To think I'd run into you in Tuliyollal of all places. I'm from the Studium's Faculty of Biology. I've seen you before, back in Old Sharlayan!
Ah, that reminds me. You'll have to forgive the impertinence, but there just so happens to be a matter I could use your help with... I'm researching Turali ecosystems, and I'm currently on the hunt for one creature in particular.
In truth, I'd barely set foot on land before I made my discovery. Alas, as I was trying to secure the specimen for study, it got away from me...
It has a somewhat...peculiar cry, to say the least. The creature itself is covered in tawny brown fur and is rather small in stature. The strangest thing is, I asked some of the locals whether they had heard of such an animal, and they seemed quite baffled!
You don't happen to know of the creature I speak of, do you?
What will you say?
I daren't speak of such a vicious beast.
Sounds like a giant beaver to me.
I'm just as baffled as the locals. Never heard of such a creature.
Squeal! Squeeeal!
You've laid eyes on the creature!? And a valiant hero such as yourself is in awe of its ferocity? Why, I must get my hands on it at all costs!
Giant, you say!? I should very much like to behold such grandeur with my own eyes!
It's surprising that one so well traveled would not have come across the creature. Which suggests that it is indeed a rare specimen of the highest order—and thus science demands it be captured and studied!
Aha! You mean to discern the animal's habitat and mannerisms by imitating its cry? Quite remarkable. It seems I'm in the presence of a budding naturalist! Well, I shan't be outshone in my own field! The creature must be captured!
I shall conduct an extensive search of the port, which is where I first saw the creature. Might I ask you to search the high ground—the residential district known as the Resplendent Quarter?
I shall continue my search in the vicinity. Now that I think of it, the creature itself may have come here from foreign shores...
<squeal>?
The vocal varmint and its companion seem willing to follow you. Lead the pair back to the determined naturalist at High Tide Harbor.
The vocal varmint and its companion are now accompanying you. Keep them at your side in order to proceed with quest objectives.
You can leave your quest companions behind by entering a different area, or by speaking with them and selecting the option to part ways.
If you wish to have your companions join you again, return and speak with them at the original location.
You must be accompanied by the vocal varmint and its companion, and have them at your side in order to proceed with quest objectives.
Your companions have yet to arrive. Be sure they are at your side before attempting to continue.
What will you do?
Small talk.
Part ways.
Nothing.
<squeal> <squeeeaaal>!
Are you sure you wish to part ways with your companions?
<squeal> <squeal>!
The vocal varmint and its companion seem willing to wait for you in the Resplendent Quarter. Return to them when you are ready.
<squeal>!
Having patiently waited for your return, the vocal varmint and its companion seem eager to follow you once again.
B-Brilliant, simply brilliant! Not one, but two! I only spotted a single specimen earlier—little did I think there'd be another lurking nearby!
<squeal> <squeal> <squeal>!
They both seem remarkably docile. What a marvelous stroke of luck to be reunited with my quarry so quickly. This rather vindicates my decision to travel all this way!
You see, our professor recently absconded, leaving me and my fellow researchers vying for the newly vacated position.
This is just what I need! If I can work this discovery into a paper, it will do wonders for my standing within the faculty—and put me one step closer to that tenured position!
Recently, my fellow researchers and I have been vying for a tenured position within the faculty. This discovery is exactly what I need to give me the upper hand during the selection process!
Suffice it to say, I'll be keeping a close eye on these two and tending to them with the utmost care. I can't wait to conduct a thorough study!
<squeal> <squeeeaaal>!
