Welcome

Hello Dr Agon, welcome to the Final Fantasy XIV Wiki!

Before you take on your editing journey, please take the time to create your user page. This wiki offers a Community Portal (Accessible from the sidebar menu), which contains a plethora of information to get you started: Help Guide to learn about general wiki editing, Style Manual to learn about overall style, templates and our cool infoboxes, and much more!

The easiest way to communicate with wiki staff and other users is to use our Discord server.

As an anti-spam measure, you will need to make at least one edit prior adding any external links.

  • Adding external links prior to making one edit will result in an automatic ban. If that happens, please contact wiki staff on our Discord to be unbanned.

If you want a quick start, check out our To-Do List.

Let us know if you need help with editing, page creation or anything else. I hope you have a great time here with us! - Moogle (talk)

Main page updates

Hello Dr Agon, thank you so much for all of your contributions to the wiki and thank you for the suggestions. We've renamed the "The World Of Eorzea" to "Locations" and made changes to Last Update section of the main page by creating the Template:New Content that any user can edit. Feel free to make changes to Template:New Content and let me know if you need anything else -Moogle (talk) 12:47, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Meowlo's Archives

I don't think these are appropriate to add and should probably be removed. The problem is this person recorded them with heavily saturated, modified nuclear-looking colors that completely go against what the game is supposed to look like or what the developers intended (and are uncomfortable to even watch); it's not at all up to the standard of what should be presented as preservation of the game's content. I don't see anything off with the textures. Even then, they are the most comprehensive video archive available. - Dr Agon (talk) 17:49, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am not referring to the textures at all. I am talking about the extreme, overly-saturated colors of the whole video. The entire color space of the game is fan-modded with some plugin or program to use some atomic deep-fried coloration that's extremely uncomfortable to look at and would greatly upset the developers and artists of the game if they knew this is how the fans were deciding to preserve it. I would ask you to take a minute to look at a quest recorded by anybody else and observe the dramatic difference side by side. It is not a small difference. It is way, way off of what the intended art is supposed to be. If the game were to ever go offline but we only had this radioactive-looking archive to remember it by, it would be deeply unfortunate not only to the fans but also the creators.
I understand the whole pride of "I made the decision so it stays" mindset, but please have the humility to let that go and see that this might be the wrong decision for the legacy and remembrance of this work of art. I would pray that there is some semblance of a judicial process somewhere within this collaborative effort. Haunt (talk) 10:03, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Can you give one example of a video with overly saturated colors? I am struggling to see what is off with the coloring. - Dr Agon (talk) 15:57, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I recommend bringing this up on our Discord. - Dr Agon (talk) 16:00, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You cannot see how every video looks like it came out of Willy Wonka's factory? It's every second of every single video. I don't understand how you cannot see it? The reds are super blown out and there is some kind of bloom/fake HDR going on. All you have to do is put one of Meowlo's videos next to another user's recording of the same quest and you'll see it plain as day. Did you do that? The presentation is atrociously bad and the recordings are not only technically against ToS for using ReShade mods (I get the eyeroll there, but this is an encyclopedia for all and should have stricter standards around preservation and accuracy; what people do privately is their thing), they are insulting to the artists that create this game. I am very against their inclusion here and it's not a small issue as it concerns the game's lasting legacy. Please reconsider the decision. Haunt (talk) 16:15, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Again, please bring this up on the wiki Discord - we're discussing it right now actually. - Dr Agon (talk) 16:39, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello! Thank you for voicing your concern.
Meowlo's videos have been added to quests where applicable to provide a historical archive of quests for visual reference, as dialogue and screenshots alone cannot suffice to appropriately capture the content. The request for Meowlo's videos was made as:
1) We reached out and asked Meowlo directly if we could link their videos, and got their permission to do so.
2) Meowlo's approach to recording the footage has met a few consistency marks that were particularly important:
  • They aim to record every possible dialogue interaction.
  • The videos are 1080p minimum.
  • No commentary is made, making it easy to hear all the in-game sounds.
The colouring difference from what you see in the video and what you experience personally in game can be due to a variety of reasons, such as your personal display settings and your graphics settings. Also note that video post-processing and compression can alter the display. In reviewing the footage and comparing it to multiple editors own screenshots of the same scenes (including those who run the game without any modification whatsoever) the difference in visuals is not significant enough to be considered an inaccurate representation.
If you have suggestions for other video archives we'd be happy to review and consider them for linking instead. However in lieu of other options and permissions we'll continue to use Meowlo's videos going forward. Cryebunnie (talk) 17:17, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
