Talk:The Reflections
I can see why there's a temptation to call this the Ninth based on the similarity to FFIX, but it looks a LOT like most of this reflection perished in a calamity of Lightning, suggesting it's the small surviving remnant of the 12th. They even say in the MSQ that it seems like most of the world was destroyed, and only a small chunk survived inside the lightning dome. Dvandom (talk) 04:18, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

The Unidentified Reflections Might Be Wind and Ice Aspected
A theory as to what might be going on on the other shards. First, what we know:
- Shards were kept in relative balance with each other. Using the standard elemental wheel Lightning is opposite Ice, Earth is opposite Wind, Water opposite Fire, with the overall light vs dark. There have been seven calamities taking seven of the elements so far, and the Calamity we avoided would have used the First and used light, rounding out the set. (Shadowbringers)
- The Fourth is experiencing an Ice Age of cataclysmic proportions. The Ninth in experiencing a similarly cataclysmic world-wide thunderstorm. (Dawntrail + 7.5)
- The Void is considered "Failed" by the Ascians. (Shadowbringers)
- This leaves two unknown shards; the Eighth and the Eleventh.
- A seemingly random fact: In The Interphos, Sphene pulls aether from other shards (recently re-confirmed verbatim in 7.5). She utilizes Wind, Earth, and Ice. (Dawntrail)
Now onto speculation and rational:
At the time the Interphos was current, we did not know the disposition of THREE shards; the Eighth, the Eleventh, and the FOURTH. It has since been revealed that the Fourth is experiencing a massive Ice Age, and it would make sense that the world would be aspected to Ice as a result like the Ninth was aspected toward lightning.
It would then make sense that the remaining two shards are probably aspected toward Wind and Earth, as the last two non-rejoined shards now that we know the aspect of the Fourth. There is no place, from what we've seen, on the First, Fourth, Nineth, and Thirteenth that COULD yield those results without at least being tainted with something else with it. Additionally, it would make sense on the Elemental Balance note from Shadowbringers, as the Twelfth and Nineth are both Lightning aspected, and the Sixth and Fourth are both Ice aspected, balancing each other out. What remains is the Eleventh and Eighth, which while I suppose they don't HAVE to be opposites, it would fit all available information and patterns if they were.
