The Second Umbral Calamity was one of Lightning. It ushered in the Second Umbral Era.

Causes

The calamity was triggered by the Rejoining of the Twelfth Shard.

Summary of Events

Following the advent of tools and civilization, the population of the land began to steadily grow, increasing the size of settlements into full-blown kingdoms. Once these kingdoms began vying for more territory, great conflicts began to occur. This further evolved the use of tools and weapons for warfare. To maintain the creation of these tools and weapons, resources were stripped from the land, and the skies blackened with plumes of smoke. After years and years of violent warfare, the scales tipped, and the land fought back. Mountains belched plumes of smoke, permanently blacking out the skies, while lightning and levin bolts struck the earth mercilessly, destroying everything and anything it touched.

To survive, people went underground into caves.
