Second Umbral Era

The Second Umbral Era suffered pestilence and plague, following the Calamity of Lightning. It ushered in the Second Astral Era.

Summary of Events

Mankind abandoned their homes and towns and lived underground, fearing that the gods wanted to purge mankind once and for all. Eternal Darkness caused by erupting Volcanoes and constant Lightning bolts wreaked for "a full twelvemoon and a day" - assumedly for a full year. Those who survived were forced underground, where they then suffered from horrible plagues and maladies. This led to fervent prayer to the gods. Due to this, the people began exhibiting the signs of what modern theologists call a primitive stage of modern Magic.
