Used For
Sanction is a beneficial status effect: "Receiving the gear-enhancing benefits of a Grand Company sanction."
Certain pieces of Grand Company gear include a "Sanction Effect", which is a stat boost that varies depending on the gear. The Sanction buff temporarily unlocks the gear's "Sanction Effect" until the buff runs out.
The buff can be gained by using a 
Sanction scroll, or by speaking with the mage at Grand Company Headquarters (Flame Mage, Serpent Mage, or Storm Mage).
The following groups of gear are eligible for Sanction effects:
- Grand Company Sergeant's Weapons (Level 44) (item level 46)
- Grand Company Officer's Armor (level 50, item level 55)
- Grand Company Elite Weapons (level 50, item level 70)
- Grand Company Captain's Weapons (level 50, item level 130)
