Common mechanics and markers
Enemies found in many duties in the game use damaging abilities, commonly referred to as mechanics. The type and extent of these mechanics are shown by associated markers before these mechanics are performed in order to warn players. These can range from simple circle AoEs found in most content to Playstation markers found in high-end duties.
Exceptions exist to these markers. These are usually found in older content; for example, Titan's Geocrush in The Navel (Hard) does not have a proximity marker despite its proximal damage. However, by understanding these markers in general, players will learn the game's encounter design "language" and be able to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar encounters and avoid these attacks (also known as "resolving mechanics").
