Being a great admirer of Qeshi-Rae, Mao-Ladd specifically chose to work at the Hortorium rather than the Facet of Gathering, reasoning that the analysis tasks of the former would afford him more interaction with the inquisitive Mystel than the often solitary expeditions of the latter. The twenty-three-year-old's logic was rewarded when he was summarily enlisted in Qeshi-Rae's Samiel Search Squad.
