Journal
- Shiidil Ja's eyes are brimming with tears.
- Barely able to restrain her panic, Shiidil Ja explains that she and her husband, Gotoll Ja, were attacked by vicious wivres outside the city. He managed to distract them long enough for her to flee, but she fears the worst and begs you to go and find him near Golmajiik Grove.
- ※Please note that the difficulty of this quest has been synced to your current level.
- You arrive outside Golmajiik Grove to find Gotoll Ja cornered by a host of enraged wivres. The beasts stand little chance against your martial prowess, however, and you turn to see what assistance you can lend the ailing man.
- Gotoll Ja thanks you, casting a second glance at you as he takes in your obviously foreign appearance. Nevertheless, he bids you rejoin him in Mamook to receive proper compensation for your heroic deed.
- Shiidil Ja is overjoyed by her husband's return and thanks you profusely for your assistance. Gotoll Ja was once a mercenary but was forced to retire after a serious injury. He expresses no little bitterness over his current impotence in battle, but curiosity regarding the wivres' strange behavior overpowers his discouragement. That such normally gentle creatures would be driven to an aggressive frenzy is baffling─and he would have your help in discovering the source of their ire...
Dialogue
You're one of the Third Promise's retainers, aren't you? Please...please help me!
My name is Shiidil Ja, and my husband and I were attacked by wivres outside the city.
He fended them off so I could escape, but he's no match for them alone.
I know I have no right to ask, given how our people treat outsiders. But I'm begging you—please save my husband!
His name is Gotoll Ja, and he's near Golmajiik Grove. Please hurry!
My husband is named Gotoll Ja, and I left him by Golmajiik Grove. Please save him!
...You have my thanks, stranger. I take it my wife sent you?
Wivres don't usually attack people—I hardly knew what was happening before they were on us.
But that's neither here nor there. Let's return to Mamook and see that you receive a proper reward. Shiidil Ja should be anxious for our arrival as well...
I'm sorry to have troubled you, stranger.
Oh, a thousand thousand blessings upon you! My Gotoll Ja is safe thanks to your kindness.
I don't know what I would have done had you not arrived when you did. Most of our able-bodied fighters have left the city in search of mercenary work, you see.
As I once did myself. You're from Eorzea, aren't you? I toured across the salt in my younger years.
That is, until I suffered injury enough to send me home for good. Now I can hardly manage to ward off the occasional feisty wivre, it would seem.
Glory days mean little when you can no longer protect your loved ones.
I'm perfectly fine, aren't I? Besides, those wivres weren't “feisty”—they were positively feral. I still can't believe we were attacked by such normally docile creatures.
Something had them agitated, though I can't imagine what. Still, if our local wivres are being driven into a rage, that doesn't bode well for us.
I realize this is more than you bargained for, stranger, but would you be willing to help?
It's unheard of for wivres to attack Mamool Ja, so we need to determine what's going on before someone gets injured.
Th-There's little in it for you, mind. Don't get your hopes up.
Thank her/him, dearest. She/He is doing us a kindness.
R-Right. Just...not used to the open generosity, is all.
Thank you, stranger. We're counting on you.
