A native of an Ilsabardian province, Baut enlisted in the army in order to earn citizenship for his family. The Hyuran centurion was posted to Gyr Abania and given command of the garrison at Ala Ghiri, and there he watched as the forces of the Eorzean Alliance encroached. Deeming their cause lost, the thirty-eight-year-old surrendered himself in exchange for his men’s freedom, a decision that led to the bloodless liberation of the village.
