{{raw game icon|icon file|frame=}}

Renders a game icon using an icon filename and frame type.

This template is intentionally limited in functionality and should only be used to display one-off icons for things that aren't important enough to have their own wiki pages. For most other things, use {{game icon}} instead! A good example of an appropriate use case for this template is to display one-off actions for limited time events, such as the glowstick actions used in Live from Ul'dah.

Do not use this template within other templates. Templates that need to render icons from pre-fetched data should invoke Module:Icon § renderGameIcon directly.

A shortcut for this template is available as {{ri}} (for "raw icon").

Parameters

unnamed parameter 1
The icon file. Can omit File: namespace, but must include file extension.
frame
Frame type. Can be one of standard, trait, achievement, or none (for non-frame icons).
size
Icon size. One of small (20px), mid (30px), or big (40px). Defaults to big.

Limitations

  • Dye count and HQ cannot be set. These properties are only useful for items, and all items in the game should have their own page and be usable with {{game icon}}.
  • Link cannot be changed. One-off icons always have their link set to the underlying icon file's media page so it's easy for editors to find the file.
  • Label and quantity cannot be set. This template displays the icon and nothing else.

Examples

  • {{raw game icon|Cheer Rhythm Red event action.png}}
  • {{raw game icon|Cheer Rhythm Red event action.png|size=mid}}
  • {{raw game icon|Cheer Rhythm Red event action.png|size=big}}
  • {{raw game icon|File:Dungeons icon1.png|frame=none}}

Status effects

Note: Don't actually use these frame types for now, continue using {{status effect}} for now instead. This is just me testing stuff while we wait to have capacity to tackle the status effect icon revamp. Erin Umbreon (she/it • talk) 03:40, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
