We have explored the resemblance of Eorzea's common dialect to that spoken by Norvrandt's peoples, but certain of the First's inhabitants communicate through an entirely different language: the Fae tongue of Il Mheg.

The Archon Urianger, who spent much time in the faerie kingdom, is said to have learned Fae by referencing little more than the tomes available in the Crystarium's archives. Through his studies, he found that their language was comprised of many of the same elements used to construct spells. Runes form the basis of Fae, with each carrying a specific meaning as well as the potential to manifest magical effects.
