This thirty-two-year-old Hyur is the third son of Clan Hatasashi, one of the lesser warrior houses[1]. With little prospect for inheriting the clan's leadership, Ikaruga was permitted to become a bakufu officer on the condition that he serve at the Ruby Price. Should he commit any major missteps over three years of service, however, his standing will be forfeit--thus does he put aside thoughts of the wife and young daughter he left behind, and remain focused on carrying out his duty.
