Flavor Text
Diamondback weaves earth-aspected aether into a hard mineral shield, mimicking what many describe as the “maddening” effect of shelled dragons' carapaces. Alas, though its defensive properties are superlative, its weight makes it impossible for the caster to move while under its aegis.
Acquisition
Duties
- Cuca Fera from level 50 Dungeon The Stone Vigil (Hard)
Tips
Acquisition Tips
- Cuca Fera actually CAN be damaged heavily without use of the cannons. Use Missile to half his HP over and over till he's low enough to where you can kill him with standard skills. Alternatively, Level 5 Death can be used to finish the battle off instantly; just ensure Cuca Fera has used Diamondback first.
- Another option, Doom (The Masked Carnivale stage 20 Miss Typhon could give some trouble, yet still possible) or Tail Screw (Soloing Crag Claw, you can do it once you've learned 2-3 crowd control spells and have ilvl around 130), can both be used to cause instant death.
- Another option, Phantom Flurry (Hells' Kier) allows you to bypass Cuca Fera's resistances and finish the boss off with a single cast (If you're running this unsync with Level 70/80 gear).
Other Tips
- This spell is mandatory in several blue mage strategies in high-end encounters. It provides twice the mitigation as a level 3 tank limit break.
- When using it, you will be immobilized for 10 seconds and cannot cancel it early, so be aware of upcoming mechanics that may require you to move.
- In raid situations such as The Final Coil of Bahamut - Turn 4, this spell can chew through MP easily. Blood Drain and Lucid Dreaming must be used effectively to restore MP.
History
- Patch 4.5 (2019-01-08): Added.
