“Slugs are a family of giant, terrestrial, shell-less snails. Given sufficient time, their acidic secretions are so corrosive as to pose a threat to even the stoutest city walls, and most towns have standing orders to eradicate these troublesome wavekin on sight. Like their distant cousins, pirates, slugs appear unable to resist the smell of ale, and so the popular brew is commonly used as bait in slug traps.
