Welcome

Hello Fatima43, welcome to the Final Fantasy XIV Wiki!

Before you take on your editing journey, please take the time to create your user page. This wiki offers a Community Portal (Accessible from the sidebar menu), which contains a plethora of information to get you started: Help Guide to learn about general wiki editing, Style Manual to learn about overall style, templates and our cool infoboxes, and much more!

The easiest way to communicate with wiki staff and other users is to use our Discord server.

As an anti-spam measure, you will need to make at least one edit prior adding any external links.

  • Adding external links prior to making one edit will result in an automatic ban. If that happens, please contact wiki staff on our Discord to be unbanned.

If you want a quick start, check out our To-Do List.

Let us know if you need help with editing, page creation or anything else. I hope you have a great time here with us! - Moogle (talk)

Video archive removal

Hello, please do not remove video archives from pages, or you will be blocked.

The quality of the videos has been extensively discussed amongst the editor community on Discord and the consensus is that the graphical settings are within the limits of what can be achieved without using mods. - Dr Agon (talk) 19:08, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't know who you are. Can you provide a transcript. I can say anything too. Fatima43 (talk) 19:12, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Convo history is in the wiki discord: https://discord.com/invite/MDMDqkX. It is also discussed here. - Dr Agon (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the links. I don't see anything in them that qualifies as a consensus? Is this just your personal wish? Can you paste the text where you believe a consensus was formed? Fatima43 (talk) 19:24, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
It has been discussed in the #editor-chat channel in wiki Discord server, which is the primary means of communication. Due to the format of Discord it is difficult to paste a transcript here. - Dr Agon (talk) 19:29, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome to join the Discord and I can link you the conversation directly. - Dr Agon (talk) 19:36, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
That isn't enough qualification. You're still just asking me to believe you. An imaginary Discord consensus is not a consensus here. It needs to be recorded on a talk page. If you are acting in bad faith, threatening me using embellished or fictitious claims (I could say I am part of a community, too, or does only your community matter?), do you believe you are above any penalty? This is a decentralized project. You do not unionize on Discord. Use the talk pages. You haven't. There is no consensus until then. Fatima43 (talk) 19:51, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You have just made an account today and the first thing was to remove the videos with a vague justification. Your attitude indicates that you are the one acting in bad faith here. - Dr Agon (talk) Dr Agon (talk) 20:14, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I will give a more distinct justification. The content appears modified with an outside application. I don't think you understand what bad faith means (ask your favorite AI if you need to). It means you weren't going to follow through with proving your so-called consensus. I am, by contrast, very sincere about following through and why. Fatima43 (talk) 20:21, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please provide concrete evidence that it has been modded and a suggestion to an alternative video archive source on Talk:To-Do List. Again, a summary for why Meowlo's videos were chosen are added [here]. Any further attempts to remove the videos will result in a block. Dr Agon (talk) 20:30, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
May I ask what might result in penalizing or blocking you? Is there a mechanism in place? That is just a curiosity on separation of powers here. The evidence will be a simple side by side comparison clearly explaining and showing that no in-game setting can recreate what is displayed in Meowlo's archives. I think that's a simple task. You would accept evidence, and not just say you would, right? I also believe there are alternative archives, but I am not quite sure if they are comprehensive enough. Fatima43 (talk) 20:40, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Comprehensiveness is the key word. Meowlo's archives are by far the most comprehensive video archive available and are being updated for the graphical update made in 7.x.
We would be happy to consider archives that meet the criteria mentioned by Cryebunnie and have less saturated graphics.
The separation of powers is irrelevant at this stage, as you are a brand new user with no established history of contributions, and your first actions are akin to vandalism. - Dr Agon (talk) 20:49, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I get it, friend. They exist on every wiki. It's your turf. Fatima43 (talk) 21:15, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello and welcome to the wiki!
As previously noted here, the consensus was made to link Meowlo's videos to have a consistent visual archive of quests: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/User_talk:Dr_Agon#c-Cryebunnie-20260410171700-Haunt-20260410161500
If you'd like to suggest alternative videos to link instead, please feel free to start a discussion about it before removing links. Please note they need to follow the criteria outlined in that post.
Regarding Discord use, the Discord is used as this wiki's primary source of communication as it's faster and more efficient than utilizing talk pages. Regarding credibility, the Discord link in the sidebar links directly to said public server. The site owner is the one who owns the Discord and is the one who put that link there. If you take issue with using Discord to communicate that's understandable, in the future we can work to better publicize decisions made.
That being said Dr Agon is an admin of the wiki, please respect what he's said in not removing video archives. Cryebunnie (talk) 20:24, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
That looks like the exact opposite of a consensus. Am I living in bizarro world. Fatima43 (talk) 20:28, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The person is clearly using an outside program to change the graphics. This isn't my display. Fatima43 (talk) 20:30, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I did not say that post was the consensus - I said the consensus was noted there. In regards to the graphics as I mentioned in the comment linked: "In reviewing the footage and comparing it to multiple editors own screenshots of the same scenes (including those who run the game without any modification whatsoever) the difference in visuals is not significant enough to be considered an inaccurate representation."
Again, if you have another source to suggest for quest links by all means suggest it. Cryebunnie (talk) 20:37, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Do you also watch SD videos stretched on your widescreen by chance? Trying to gauge the kind of people I'm dealing with here. Fatima43 (talk) 20:43, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Actually, a better question would be do you keep the in-store "Vivid" setting as the default when you get home. It's kind of nuts how people can't see things. Fatima43 (talk) 20:45, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you're going to resort to derogatory comments then this conversation is over. If you have any constructive feedback for quest video references feel free to suggest so, otherwise I hope you have a good day. Cryebunnie (talk) 20:49, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I would ask you to sincerely understand that a deliberately corporate-sounding and robotic "In reviewing the footage we have determined" dismissal is just as insulting and harmful to real progress, like something a police station or a company under investigation would say about themselves, but we've normalized being dead to each other so long I know I'd just receive a blank stare. I don't even want to be hurtful, but there's just no happiness. Right out the gate I get reverted with no explanation. So I ask, who bared teeth first? My soul is tired. I wish you all a better journey, hopefully an enlightening one. Fatima43 (talk) 21:05, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Follow-up on video archives

After investigating and discussing with the other wiki admins, I have confirmed that an external application was used to modify the colors in the quest archives, but they will remain due to the reasons previously discussed. More information can be found here, and all the videos now link to the disclaimer via the {{quest video archive}} template.

In the future, please be constructive when providing feedback or criticisms to wiki content. Do not default to immediately removing page content or elevate resistance to melodrama or personal attacks (including but not limited to commentary on the state of the human race or implying that the wiki staff are soulless customer service reps who hate their jobs, etc.), or your ideas will be rejected with no compromise.

I will not respond further to any snide comments. Thank you. Dr Agon (talk) 21:26, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
