- Galatea Parva takes influence from the Greek myth of Pygmalion and the Statue. In this myth, Pygmalion became disgusted with women, viewing them as flawed creatures and unworthy of his time. Instead, he chose to create "the most perfect woman"—sculpting her out of ivory. He fell in love with his creation and made an offering to Aphrodite to bring the statue to life. Aphrodite, touched by his passion, granted his wish, and the pair lived happily ever after.[1]
- Galatea is widely believed to translate to she who is milk-white in ancient Greek.[2]
